Those "Balls" on the end of the guns of the preview Space Marine are probably flip open missile doors. It's a missile launcher unit called Desolators

i remember at the start of last year GW claiming this would be "the year if chaos" and then chaos got fewer new models then like the BTemplars alone, and even in "the year of chaos" still felt like the unwanted child

The new Daemon Prince kit is insane. And one of the best kits GW has ever made. The STD box is way better than the Squats IMO.

Come to Chaos….we have cookies! I totally agree with you about Model vs boxed set. So really, it’s no longer “model of the year” but “product of the year.” (I got 2 Bayards Revenge and 1 Goff Rocker which I found recently at a local hobby shop).

I voted for the slaves to darkness army set! I originally thought that by voting for the set there’d be a second round that let people vote for the specific model. The S2D box was my only purchase in the fall. I saved up all my birthday money for it (I’m 26 by the way lol). The S2D box was the most excited I’ve ever been to buy Warhammer. If I had to say which model from the box was my favorite I’d probably say the theridons!

Nothing gets better than hearing that intro every week- it makes me happy I made it through the week!

RE: The Space Marine Silhouette - It's a multi missile launcher with the front ports opened (the round lids). Likely the Sgt. of the Missile Primaris. And suspect the DE warrior is for Kill Team.

I think the rogal dorn has only been heavily teased since astra militarum hasn't released I am not sure you watched the entire video because their is a couple more silhouettes including a new snikgrot sculpt and potential adeptus arbites for kill team soul shackle to go with the druhkari team. It is very interesting to try and put myself in the shoes of a person who feels like the bigger and more epic a model is, the better it is. It is both baffling, confounding and fascinating.

That Drukhari reveal reminds me of when GW updated the Incubi Models. They looked pretty much the same, it was not needed and just ended up increasing their price.

Would love to have some Chaos posessed in my army, but I wish they were not monopose because they look so special that putting two units on the table will look like duplicates at once. I love the Thunderkin for the Leagues, I need to get some for my beginning army. But remember they are officially not Squats. Only their kin on Necromunda calls themselves Squats.

The thing with the primaris co-existing with the standard mini-marines is that GW seems to feel it needs to reinvent the wheel with these weapons/gear (maybe so they can skew the price the points in favor of the new product), a lot of players just want a classic tactical-squad (+ terminator & assault) given a glow-up treatment, rather than have the concept twisted like with the gravis options or their meme bunker. (How did you not talk about the arbite! 2nd best thing there it looked like) Personally, concerning the lists, I think the basic volt infantry is fine (I prefer necromunda squats), the volt berserkers are cool (but the mole guns look basic and tagged-on), but the power-armour units (and I'd argue the mini men of iron) are pretty contentious. They have a cool concept behind them, but some of the aesthetic is love-it or hate-it Imo the new imp tank is broadly excellent (makes the Russ look silly), The Dark Commune as a whole kind of beats the exclusive models, and I'd also say a lot of forgeworld's necromunda have really outshone GW's plastic character range. The kasrkin were great, kroot vs navy box is fabulous (only a couple of things I'd change), the demon princes by themselves were pretty good (but the content sold with them was very meh). I'm excited for arbites and khorne beserkers, I hope we'll see dark-eldar beasts make a come-back, along with maybe some more xenos content through kill-team.

Well, I didn't vote for the Slaves to Darkness set, but I do think that at least the Daemon Prince deserves the place on this list. That mini is amazing.

I voted for Slaves to Darkness because it’s my first Warhammer army (now complete), I love all of the models, and since there were no pictures, I didn’t recognize every other mini released this year. I didn’t think it’d get 2nd place! I was mostly voting for the prince and the chosen. I love how they look and the customization.

Literally just started an army again after 30 years. I had no idea so much of Warhammer was limited, until I tried to find my 40k skull commando and couldn't find it.

The only possessed models that people used were the Forge World 30k ones, those looked fantastic

we need some eldar stuff to catch up, warp spiders and scorpions have the old crappy metal ones and there are NO phoenix lord models for the most part.

If you ask nicely in fangroups you will find people that will get you these storebirthday models for pretty much the price you pay in store. Saw pictures of people buying 100+ models to distribute them in groups.

The Primaris model with the "balls" sticking out of the gun, seems to have a rocket launcher. The "balls" seem to be tube covers for the missile/rocket launcher tubes. The "security camera" might be a signum or some other type of target designator.

But yeah I don't like the look at all so far, it's speculated to be the sergeant weapon, the regular one will apparently look like a normal missile launcher as per a rumour engine picture.

I have to agree with you and really like the Chaos Sorcerer and Familiars you get with Warhammer+. And given that I haven't seen a single one on Ebay that went for less that just subscribing to Warhammer+ itself, I may just have to sign up to get one. Then pay the extra for the Azrakh and sit on him for a bit before flipping him myself. I'll at least put him up as an auction with a reasonable starting price and let the market decide his worth.

My guess is that they have the Army sets so they don't double up on Models taking spots to probably have a greater variety and still allows them to promote more models as the same time.

I think that they should have separate game categories for best model of the year, so you get the best AoS model etc, and then an overall top 3 of everything. Would expand on the marketing ability of it. Kroak and sigvald were certainly impressive for 21 though.

Including sets is weird, but among those sets I think that because 40k is the main thing you are interested in that you are dismissing the Slaves to Darkness box too easily. At my local game store it was by far the best selling and most anticipated box of the year, whereas the votann stuff sat on the shelf unbought. Edit: The chosen and the Demon Prince seemed to be the most popular models from the boxes at my store.

If I had to choose an army set to vote on it would definitely be Slave to Darkness. There isn't a single mini in that box that isn't worthy of a spot on this list and I dont even play AoS. Also at this rate GW should have another poll for voting on box set of the year especially because this year seems like there will be about a dozen of them. The weapon for the space marine does look odd, the weird things on the end of the weapon are lids of the missle pods though

Second place Crab, imagine if all those people even knew about DeepWars and ShadowSea............there's an entire game about underwater monster, with all manner of crabs. ;-)

Just keep in mind that these teasers are likely all for models coming in the first half of the year... The Drukhari is literally just a Kabalite Warrior model with a pet Razorwing (the barbs protruding from the "elbow" of the wing is a giveaway), likely as part of a Kabalite Trueborn Kill Team from the upcoming Soulshackle box. It looks like GW have played things a little safe for the Drukhari team, and just gone with an upgrade sprue for the Warrior kit. It'll be the oldest kit to get an upgrade sprue in the current edition of Kill Team to date... I just hope this upgrade sprue is more impressive than the last 2 upgrade sprues we had. At least give them back the options they lost after 5th edition. Trueborn in 5th actively encouraged kitbashing, and allowed you to use options that weren't in the Warrior kit, such as the Shardcarbine (Scourges were a great kit to source bits from). Rogal Dorn wasn't eligible for 2022 model of the year, because it's only being released in 2023. Same goes for Angron and friends. You also missed Snikrot and the Arbites. Pretty sure the latter is also going to be in the Soulshackle box.

I did vote for the s2d army set, i realy love all those models and i am painting up the box now. Should have been on first place and the chaos knight on second. The space dwarfs is for pepole especially intrested, i dont like those models. I have a aeldari army also (with only the new stuff in it) but i dont think the avatar is among the best models made this year but its a great model
