I own a hobby store and GW is the worst. They ship late, run out of Pre orders even on the day you’re allowed to place them, ship about 50% of the paints you order and more. It’s like their determined to lose their empire.

I'm surprised they haven't repackaged the Ambull for Necromunda. There are rules for it for the game, so it'd be a pretty easy win to just make it a model for that.

That is the second miniature they bring back from the combat arena box. The technoarcheologist was also from that box. I am happy that I find combat arena a while ago for a cheap price on ebay.

I'm really excited for Shatterpoint. The price may seem steep, but value-wise it's right on par or even slightly better than Marvel Crisis Protocol. I definitely appreciate how AMG designs their core box to give you a complete experience, rather than the watered down demos like the Legion, X-wing, and Armada core boxes give. Also, Legion players who primarily play Rebels and Imps have it rough when it comes to PVC vs sprues. They switched exclusively to sprues shortly after the clone wars era stuff came out, and there hasn't been a ton of original trilogy content since then, so those players are primarily stuck with sub-par minis.

I honestly think a lot of people don't realise you can get GW stuff from third party retailers at a discount. It's honestly bizarre seeing people pay more than FLGS prices for GW kits on eBay for example.

Even at Ebay prices they are still expensive for most of their range. I just buy premium STLs and 3D print most stuff now. For example the primarchs on cults3D are even better than the ones forge world sells and for like 10-20% of the cost for the resin and cost of the STL combined.

@Red Dragon that also gives the edge that lets you have multiple of them so if you want to do something wacky with them, or a freind wants one everyone wins except the company that is doing daylight robbery in prices

I guess with eBay there's two potential factors - global shipping program and free shipping. On some single kits if there's free shipping then a £30 kit works out the same as a £26 kit from FLGS once you factor in a £4 shipping charge. And with Global Shipping sometimes the price markup in some countries is so high that even with shipping and customs charges it's cheaper to import, especially from the UK. I sold a ton of Imperium magazines at a tidy profit to Americans because of that, as well as some Age of Darkness and Votann stuff.

GW's preorders are just so they can have a week to get everythingpacked ready to ship for release date. Like you said, doesn't guarantee you a copy, but means that there isn't a big time disparity between those receiving them.

I’d like that exclusive commissar, but after hearing about how they’ve sold out of the exclusive minis at previous events, I certainly wouldn’t go to an event planning on getting one.

problem with preorders is for sure the scalpers. i hadnt had the money on christmas cause my boss was slow with sending me my money, as soon as i had it i wasnt able to pick up any of the christmas boxes anywhere anymore. sucks. this would have been a chance to finish my adeptus, get my space marines a decorative knight squad and finish my deathguard.

I guess I got lucky. I picked up that Primaris Psyker on Ebay a couple of years back for only $17.32 (including tax and shipping).

and as for the Shatterpoint expansions, $50 for 4 figures is only $12.50 each so it's really not that bad. Also, we do want all the Ahsoka Tano mini's.

I'm with you on PVC plastic. It sucks, it sucks to paint, but once you paint them they're fine. So, on one hand, I'll nope out of a game if the minis are too bad, but on the other hand I've painted the core Aristeia set and cursed the PVC as being right on the edge of what I'd accept, but now that I've painted it that memory fades.

I love the idea of Shatterpoint, but I really think its weird they didn't use the same scale as Legion, in order to push it as a gateway game. Doubly so, now that AMG have announced the alpha rules for Legion Skirmish rules (Specialist Operations, IIRC). Weird to split the market like that...

Shatterpoint is most definitely a star wars version of Marvel Crisis, which I believe has been pretty popular for them so far as a skirmish game. It's much more "hero" based then Legion is, where Jedi basically have to be played extremely carefully or they will just evaporate. XD Though the advantage of them is that the models are much bigger and thus from a painterly perspective it's possible to do much more with them, especially the Sith which in my opinion are usually the most boring models to paint; it's pretty hard to paint Maul without radically changing his paint scheme to be more presentable.

I usually don't pre-order stuff, but I pre-ordered the Escher Cutters. Then they didn't even bother to pack them up and ship them until 8 days *after* the alleged release date. WTF am I even pre-ordering for? Also, when the heck are they going to release the Squats Exo-driller suit for Necromunda? They "pre-previewed" that thing months ago.

The new commissars look like commissar juniors. When I think commissar I think big coat, tassels, BIG HAT, stern and grizzled faces. They have baby hats, trench coat on one is so tightly wrapped he must be off Duty. The exclusive one looks okay, second one looks totally meh, classic one looks great.

I love Rebels. I recommend a trying again - Ezra starts annoying but he definitely becomes less annoying as the show progresses. That’s his arc. Rebels has some of the best Star Wars moments ever. I love it, even more than Clone Wars.

Ezra gets slightly less annoying, but he's slightly less obnoxious about halfway through there are some decent moments, but for everything they do right they do way more wrong, like when we see hondo again, instead of being at least a gang leader of what few of his boys were able to survive under the empire he's just a fat old guy, who wants to steal stuff and doesn't have a lot of his original charm,

Padawan asohka is probably because they know they will get the same crowd who make lego panaramas their will be people who want to replicate a specific battle in the clone wars and having a oadawan version of asohka is needed for that

If someone is looking for an obscure GW item that a majority of local Games store probably wouldn't think to sell I could understand why someone would flock to GW. I've done it several times. Also pretty interested in Shatterpoint. Iv largely stayed away from Legion due to having some much SW merchandise but shatterpoint might not be too bad

Commissar Cadet you say? Sounds like a Schola Progenia senior student which that have never done any of them in mini. But I would love it if they did. It’s where a ton of non Astartes commissioned officers come from. As well as inquisitors and some other things.

hot take, Ciaphus Cain is telling his own story and calling himself a coward, but no way. I can't suspend my disbelief hard enough when I read those books to call him a coward. He's absolutely capable and a hero of at least Inquisitor level. He tells a funny tale, but he's anything but craven.

i actually really islike the primaris psycher model the head is jsut way to big, psychers are supposed to be just humans, not megamind swollen head humans, and it just looks daft it looks like she was supposed to be a GSC magus model, that they then went "wait, we already have 2 of those, eeeeeh its a normal guard psycher" that or they just forgot to paint the skin slightly purple
