feel like this remaster occupies a weird spot in which it's simultaneously not very impressive and also way more impressive than lots of people seem to give it credit for. like by all accounts this seems to be a complete visual remake, it just treats the look of the original as a more deliberate choice rather than a result of limitations.

Loving all the extra detail that's being added into Dark Moon HD. For example, Luigi's hat actually flies off his head after bumping into his chair at 1:28; there's added lip syncing for certain voice clips that originally didn't have any like at 3:01, and of course more natural lighting to make use of his flashlight as well as extra detail being added to originally flat textures like at 2:26. Not too shabby for an HD remaster. Of course, not everyone's gonna think the same, but me personally they nailed it.

Most of this looks really nice on Switch, but right at the start of this video, the overview of the valley just looks much better on 3DS. That scene benefits from a lower resolution, at least with those models (which were made for lower resolution)

It's probably a good game to get if you don't have it on the 3DS, especially for the Skyscraper (the online mode), I spend hours and hours on end on that mode! But, well, I can't really blow 60 for a game I already have

I just hate how older animations look on higher Polly models. They just look really stiff and soulless when. The animation was not built with all the extra face details in mind

I just got Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and the visual upgrade is great, one of the things about it being on the 3DS for me was the cramped controls and yeah the visuals were fine for the 3DS, but I always wanted version that was sharper.

Loving this HD remaster/remake, but it feels weird that they decide to do 2 before 1. They should have included both in the package remastered like this or at least made 1 first, I think.

The graphics in the HD version looks good but my only complaint is that i feel they made king boo less threatening, they sort of combined his character model from luigi's mansion dark moon on the 3ds and luigi's mansion 3 on the switch which really doesn’t work

Im having so much fun replaying this game. i never understood the dislike people had for it.

I am playing the switch versión right now and haveing playes Luigis Mansion 3 I mist say this game looks awesome.

It's been years since I played any Luigi's Mansion game. I couldn't care less about this comparison, although the Switch version does have clean visuals, but I will be looking for a copy of the first Luigi's Mansion game on 3DS just to get caught up.

They did a really good remaster, better textures and new details

not just a straight port. They updated the textures and upped the polycount on the character models. Nice. Now we need HD remaster of Luigi's mansion 1 and Bring back Mario sunshine Hd and Galaxy 1 and 2 in HD.

I always remembered E.Gadd with swirl glasses, but it’s really just smaller circles. It’s a bit of a trope, so I wouldn’t have thought otherwise without looking really closely.

I think the main thing is that people are finally able to play this on a modern console. The bonus is that the visuals have improved so much.

i will admit, the graphics in the switch version are better, but as for the cutscenes, the 3DS is better as they express emotions way better, when luigi looked scared breathing in an out with his back to the door, you see his jaw moving in the 3DS version but the switch version, his teeth aren't even moving.

I appreciate that that the game is cleaner and REALLY appreciate that its darker, but at the end of the day the gameplay is still DM and there not a lot to compel someone who has already played it to buy it again for $60.

1 had a better artstyle and they just had to ruin it in 2 and 3.

Looks a more polished and cleaner than the 3DS version but it’s not worth $60. $40 more like it. The lighting in the 3DS version is better but looks like they gave the HD version the darker spookier look like the 1st LM. Strange.

Honestly I think the lighting is great, I just wish they retextured the environment. It would have been a great fix to some of the really smooth looking textures that probably shouldn’t be

You have to take in consideration that this game was made for 3D, it's looks amazing on the New 3DS IMO this is how the game was meant to be played.

I honestly prefer how the colors and lighting looks on the 3DS. Something about it is kinda cozy, but helps with the "creepy" atmosphere. The Switch one looks a bit more generic I guess and kinda takes away from what made Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon stand out to me. Then again, graphically, the Switch version is much better, but I prefer the style, I guess, of the 3DS.

I cant believe the switch port is capped to 30 fps Atleast ttyd had an excuse because it was a full blown remake with new visuals and a new engine, but this is basically just a straight port with updated textures and models. Its even worse when you consider that the original had an uncapped framerate and it could 100% possible to have 60 fps on switch without much gameplay compromise because its obvious the original probably ran on delta time.

i'm sorry but the blockiness of the 3DS version is just more charming. just look what they did to the coins. the game was built with the 3DS in mind and they hardly even tried with the switch port. defo not worth $60 compared to what they did to metroid prime which was $40. it's sad that dark moon is being treated like this
