Are you playing on PC? If yes, then you should definitely try the "Just Cause 2 - Definitive Edition" modpack. It's available on G-Drive. I'd love to see a review by you with that modpack applied cause' I personally think it makes JC2 as fun as JC3, if not better. I can send you the G-Drive link. It fixes nearly all the issues that you've mentioned in this video. It adds higher-resolution as well as well-detailed terrain textures, high-quality Just Cause 4 skin for our protagonist Rico, better foliage, higher resolution as well as more detailed day and night skyboxes, endless parachute thrusters/boosters which let you fly at the same speed as Just Cause 3's and 4's wingsuits, revamped camera, better FOV, faction wars, more aggressive enemy AI, a Panau Police department, higher NPC populace, better weapon textures and reworked damage, rebalanced health, enhanced vehicle controls, etc.

I've never seen anybody complain about this game's traversal before, but I guess it makes sense as you played the later games first. I'm similarly surprised to hear your complaints about the camera, I've played this game through about 6 times and never had problems with it, or the freefall mechanic which to me feels amazing, or the music. I guess we disagree on many things and I'm just commenting my thoughts. I'm not expecting you to suddenly agree with me, your opinions here just surprise me.

I agree JC3 is a great game and has some necessary improvements but JC2 is still cool to me. I'm willing to trade off better graphics and modernized gameplay for the atmosphere and dynamic world JC2 provides. sure it has some annoyances, but i really dont think its that bad for a 2009 game

I'm playing just cause 3 and I have liberated a bunch of settlements and stuff and I honestly think the second game is better the run button the Dodge button the way you do stunts on vehicles everything is so much more seamless in 2 and easy to execute the wingsuit and stuff is cool and I do think the game is probably the second best in the series but I don't think just cause 3 is as good also there is so many less settlements to liberate in this game and the map is smaller I like the way they track stuff in just cause 2 more as well like it'll count the amount of headshots you got how many bridges you've flown under etc

A lot of the cons you mention is probably due to the game engine itself at the time not been able to handle that type of destruction compared to the newer titles

When a got my ps4 the first game i bought was jc3 and oh man, i had fun like never, even to this day i still have a lot of fun with my ps5 in jc3. When jc4 came out, i was very happy and excited to try it, and When i played… it was boring asf, and the aspect wasn’t the same light and beautiful colors that the previous game had. I won’t forget the dissapointment i felt 🗿

Thanks! I played this years ago. It was cool at the time, but traversal was weird and annoying as you point out. I was thinking about getting JC3 or JC4 and found your videos. Glad JC3 fixed this, will get JC3.

JC3 is peak. They really understood the assignment, in a way that I'm not sure any of the other games ever did to the same extent. Watch the E3 interviews; the lead designer sounds like a player. Things like "Planted C4 was great, but sometimes you ran out of it. So we said, what if you just always had C4?"

4 had a lot of problems but also a lot of very good things, a much more diverse and interesting map than 3, more grapple hook freedom, better easter eggs, and the interesting frontline system. Shame the level design sucks and there's no base liberation and an awful story

@GamingTank I personally loved the map of 4 significantly more than 3 and found it very interesting, I enjoyed simply exploring for the sake of exploring. I agree the frontline feature needed more depth and settlements should not have been replaced. Ideally I'd like to have the frontline feature and settlements both in the game.

I played the just cause series in descending order... starting with jc3 (best in the series by far) then jc4 (huge downgrade) and finally jc2 (i didn't finish this one) and nope, I will not play jc.

If you're ever planning to play Just Cause 2, play it first and then Just Cause 3. Don't bother playing JC1 and JC4.

I remember, that I had some issues with getting used to JC3 movement after 100%-ing JC2, since after 70h this game's mechanics just felt natural and were easy to exploit. Also, JC2 had better car handling (I mean, both games have shitty handling systems, but still), since it was actually usable on keyboard, while JC3 had some shitty steering acceleration in vehicles on keyboard instead of snapping car's wheels into selected position.
