I love these engines, and thankfully they are plentiful. I put the upgraded 9 blade turbines/billet compressors on mine (no machining the housing). Running 16psi and it pulls all the way to redline now. So enjoyable to drive. I couldn't imagine it over 500hp like some people do, which is okay, just not my taste. If I remember correctly, BMW designed the engine to mimic a V8, which is also why they didn't get boost gauges I think.

Amazing what you do Frank, and frankly (pun intended) Id love to see you keep up with these videos. I have an e46 330ci, which will someday see the track but Ive been doing some research on what I can do to liven up the m54b30 but it seems that reliability and long term there isint any good or cost effective options as its a daily for now. I would absolutely love if you could do a build with the e46 chassis as I believe it would be great and now im considering it more and more. Only major problems I see are the electronics, rear subframe and the transmission. I have someone I know who I will be getting a helical style lsd so that should cover the extra fun portion of the e46 but that more or less the research ive done and im sure there's tons more out there. If I was to have an n54 build id probably have a reliable 400whp to 500whp build that I would be able to track as much as I want to and not have to worry about anything but for it to most likely be a street car with insane potential and track-ability. Maybe you could kind of make my dream come true with a near future build in a similar style so I could follow in your foot steps once ive gotten enough money and out of college. Wow! Subscribed to see if you would make one e30 with a n46 or a b48. I want a e30 with a modern 4 banger( i know about that k swap package but, it'll cost a fortune thanks to our retarded customs). There was a b47 swapped e30 in poland but i couldnt find anything other than some photos and a dyno video. Everyone tells me wiring/ecu part will be near impossible :/ gonna check this series just to see if there are some similarities between a potential n46 swap and this.
