With all the Covid virus stuff going on, a lot of people are getting into gardening for the first time. There are many issues to deal with. In this video, I show you how we deal with drought and lack of rain. As long as you have a good supply of water, you can still make a great garden in spite of the heat and dry weather. Also, we take a look inside the greenhouse and some other things going on around the homestead.

Old school filming.... no wireless microphone, no still shots...but plenty of sweating. Even though we've had very little rain, we're still working hard to make a garden.

Nematode prefer acidic soil. Yes I know peppers and most night shades also like acidic soil, but if you raise the ph to above 6.0 you shouldn't have problems with nematode. I have had peepers grow just fine at 6.5ph so if you suspect nematode just raise the PH on one plant and you should see a difference in a week. My guess is you soil ph is around 5.5 right now. Some nematodes still live at higher ph but its a cheap thing to try.

Bobby, you, yes YOU are the reason I started watching youtube and gardening videos. You taught me how to grow hydroponically and just in general. Soon after, I was watching I'm still workin. You 2 are the cornerstones of youtube and good ole Web Cajun also taught me alot. I really hope you are able to put out more videos! I miss you two!!!

Hi you said Hyacinth Beans are not edible. That is incorrect but they must be cooked. They are widely available in UK but are expensive.I have put a link in here for you to confirm what I say. I am growing for the first time this year also. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lablab but in Cyprus.

It's so great to see a video from MHP - I've really missed them. Thank you - both of you are the BEST. Blossom End Rot - Hoss Tools recommends Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer. I've been very happy with their products. This year I planted my tomatoes early and transplanted them into bottomless 2 gallon frosting containers from the supermarket. I was able to put them in the screen house early with the sliding doors and windows closed. It gave them a super start. Out in the garden I use Florida Weave and water each bucket by filling it up - from the top of the soil to the top of the pail about two inches space - right on top of the cut up straw mulch. I put the buckets on top of their lids so that I can move them around.

around these parts its very easy to pound a well spike down by hand and then you got a nice irrigation well, with a few solar panels a pwn moter controller so you don't outpump your well and a decent pump you can slow fill any kinda container you want, it don't matter if it takes all day as long as its full when you come back.

Way up here in Maine we are getting drought conditions for the first time on record and i'm having to rent a mini excavator to go out in the woods where our creek runs and dig a catch basin and install a 650 gallon tank that i can use a ram pump to draw water out of to fill two 2500 gallon storage tanks just to break even and keep the field crops and greenhouses going. Something is going on with the soil fertility and water quantity for sure. Maybe there is something to that Grand Solar minimum thing.

You're making me envious with that gorgeous big garden and greenhouse! I have a 40'x12' side yard that I'm half using for some tomatoes, mulberries, and corn out here in Southern California. And Sweet 100s are my favorite cherry tomato, I always grow at least one plant every year. This year I tried a Juliet variety, and I love it too. Very productive and has that great sweet and tangy tomato flavor. Looking forward to seeing more creative solutions to watering and gardening.

Thanks for the great video! Your garden is fantastic! You should seriously consider setting up soaker hoses for those row gardens, and maybe drip system manifolds and drip system shrub heads for the separated plants. Then you can automate your watering! Your videos taught me how to grow hydroponically. I've been growing most things hydroponically for a few years using the Masterblend three part mix. You might think about getting a Rode Go wireless microphone for those outdoor shots to pickup your audio better. Your shirt looks absolutely drenched! Thanks for another great video!

Hey Bobby and Susan. So glad to see you back. I really missed you! Hope it's not to late to get a reply from you on this thread. I'm Kenny a 76 year old retired veteran. I've been gardening for many years but now at this late age it is my dream to grow enough to set up a small veggie stand in front of the house here in Northern New Mexico. Our town of less than 1000 folks has one grocery store and the veggies they have travel so far they go rotten in a matter of days. You have inspired me to try dutch buckets etc., but due to the cost I may have to deal with in-ground beds one more year and deal with bugs etc. Even in the drought your outdoor in-ground garden looks really great. My question is this: How and with what do you fertilize your in-ground beds with and how often? Do you also use Masterblend on them too? I didn't have much in-ground success here last year so your guidance on what you use will be much appreciated. One more question if I may, Bobby. It gets quite hot here also, in 90s and 100. Have you had much luck with Kratky and NFT in the heat of summer (wondering about water temps etc)? I've successfully grown Salanova lettuce in ground all summer with shade cloth and also all winter in an unheated high tunnel inspite of lows of single digits but not sure about how it would do in summer with Kratky and NFT. Thank you in advance. We (Sally and I) Love you guys. You are a voice of decency in this crazy woke world we are in now. Thank you for that!!!
