That is one shocking tackle from southgate. That was red back then and you just need to see who the ref is to see why southgate got away with it. It also came long after the whistle, there is no way in hell southgate should have stayed on the pitch.

Southgate was miles off the level of keane and he was frustrated at his own shortcomings which is why he lunged. Small mind and obviously tiny balls or he would have been unable to continue after that. He is as horrible a manager as he was a player. Plus..He put his nadsack on the table and took a penalty at euro 96 when other more capable penalty takers bottled it. Then took missing the penalty on the chin like a man, also did that tv advert that was very self deprecating. .. and now he's the England manager. Plus look how sporting he was with Roy keane there about that past altercation between them. Plus.. he tried to smash Roys legs off in that tackle, and I'm a big Roy Keane fan, but that took balls. Roy was a fucking titan.

Shows what perception means doesn’t it. Keane didn’t stamp on Southgate twice. Southgate did an awful tackle attempt. Where was Keane supposed to put his foot after that. Southgate ended up in Leane’s footspace. Southgate should have seen red for that. He could have broken keanes leg with that awful challenge.
