Not gonna lie while Subaru is the main protagonist of this story, Garfiel in the story is like a Shonen protagonist in the Re:Zero world. Like wanting to be the strongest person in the world and taking an L like that from hubris is just what a shonen protagonist would have as motivation and flaws. Hoping for more Re:Zero content for this arc, Arc 6 and Arc 7. Can't wait for you to catch up.

I recently finished vol 18 and started the web novel. This arc has easily become my favorite arc so far. And Garfiels chapter had to be one of my favorites. That singular chapter shot him up as one of my favorites in the series

I still believe that Subaru is resistant to Authorities, the reason that Sirius Authority worked on him was because it was stated that the kids fear was felt by Subaru making him scared, which in turn made the kid even more scared and so and so on creating and infinite feedback loop of fear which at that point would overrun any resistance Subaru has.

Subaru comes up with the dumbest names for his spells 😂. The Subaru + Beako combo is epic on and off the battlefield

A word of warning: there're a few chapters of arc 5 that are agonizingly bad (trust me you'll know it when you get to it), but these chapters in the form that they are in are web novel only. Tappei did fix it in the light novels, so anime-onlies and light novel readers likely won't have any issues. Just letting you know cuz this section is a huge meme in the web novel reader community and it's the only time where I wasn't fully engrossed in Re Zero (hilariously the story itself isn't bad it's just the way it's presented that's super annoying).
