There was also a complete localized version of the game boy version in the gigaleak! But the fan translation is better, because both use the NES version as the main source and it's very evident that the "official" one cuts a lot more corners in text.

Out of curiosity I went to check the Famicom version of the game real quick since the finger nail thing intrigued me. That's no ordinary nail! That's the God of Death's nail!

Oh man, you have no idea how much I love this franchise, and wish it would've been more popular so we could've gotten more of them. Gargoyle's Quest is my all time favorite game on the Game Boy, Demons Crest my fourth on SNES and this one is roughly on my top ten for the NES

It's also pretty hard but I think it's more forgiving than Ghost'n Goblins. You should try it out. I enjoyed each installement of the series.

It's not easy for newcomers because you have to get used to how it works and learn the level layouts. Once you do however, it's not that hard. It's not remotely as relentless as G'n'G, once you get the hang of it it's fairly forgiving actually.

Great video thanks. I love this game but don’t find it easy at all. There’s a hideous stretch a couple of levels in where you go through a couple of flaming bridges and dungeons before the next password.

Yeah a couple tough spots, for sure. I do personally find it easier than Ghosts n Goblins or any Mega Man for that matter, thinking strictly of Capcom titles.

Interesting. I always got the vibe this was huge and needlessly complex and as hard as GnG, glad its not. Great video! I think this has Game Genie life codes to make it easier! Like you, I try to (tho sometimes fail) avoid huge RPGs, tho for me I get super sucked in by the story (or sidetracked to side missions or wandering around) & graphics and rarely beat them (or get sick of grinding), so I attempt to find small scale ones to scratch that itch.

This is an amazing looking game but I think Street Fighter 2010 tops it in terms of graphics. I haven't played much of GQ 1 but this game and Demon's Crest are awesome. They aren't worth what they sell for IMO but are worth playing anyway you can ;)

No random battles like the first game was a major let down for me. When I first played it I thought it was unfinished or there was something wrong with the game but that's just the way it was.😢
@TopSpot123

I love the first game and had probably beat it a half-dozen times by the time the sequel came out. I was so excited to get it! But when I played through it, I found it pretty disappointing. I understand it serves as a prequel, but it really came off to me as a rehash or port of the Game Boy game, but with less impressive bosses. It's still a great game, however, and I'd still recommend it to new players. It's possible that I was being a little unfair. I'd like to revisit both to see if my original opinion still stands up.

Same here, I was a little disappointed too first, but it grew on me. Still GQ1 is the pinnacle of the series.

Playing through the Gameboy port currently and for some reason, it’s MUCH easier (earlier weapon upgrades, friendlier jump distances, slower enemies - especially the extremely annoying Doppelganger is totally nerfed, which I’m partial to, screw that guy). Do you know if that’s just something they changed when porting the game, or is it a case where they upped the difficulty of the original Famicom game when they brought it to the west?
@docstrangelove1347
@docstrangelove1347 3 жыл бұрын
On average I think the GB version is a little easier, but it's not consistent--e.g. first and especially last boss are harder on GB (the final boss is a joke on the NES, puts up much more of a fight on GB). About jump distances, the NES game is challenging mostly because you move more slowly during jumps, a mechanic that's absent from any other game in the series, even the GB port of GQ2. Unless you use a ROM hack that changes that, NES GQ2 requires some near-pixel perfect jumps.
