Not at all, your narration is spot on. I've been trying to get to grips with base camp for a while , yours is by far the most straight forward and easy to follow tutorial I've found. Thanks for putting it out there.

Thanks for this. I am having difficulty starting where I left off when building a route. For example , with your route how would you get back the pen to add more to the current route ( without using the insert function )

My line doesn't auto select to roads or paths it just does a birds eye direct link, any idea why?

Check that the activity profile on the Menu Ribbon is not set to "Direct".

Hi Jim, Good tutorial, particularly like the techno challenged like me. :) My problem is the same as Williams. The route sows a direct line without following the roads. My activity planner is set to motorcycle with no avoidances so I would have thought it would just come up like yours does.................but alas, no. Any ideas? Cheers, Geoff

Hi Geoff, OK, the activity ribbon is set to Motorcycling on the Map view, if you select the route and double click on it, it will come up with a Properties page. Check that the activity box here (Top Right of the box) is not set to Direct. Only thing I can think of.

By the way - don't set your activity to Motorcycle - Basecamp's handling of Motorcycle activity is mad.

Hi Jim, I think I've worked it out. I hadn't created a New List. When I did that and created a Route in that, it seemed to show properly. Next is to make sure I can transfer to my Navigator V...................Cheers and thanks for your help.

I tried following your route but when I got near the A37 , my next click- basecamp did some recalculating and routed to the point i'd clicked from the start position and not the last point. even though the line to the pencil tip was coming from the last point. any ideas?

To be honest, I don't know why. I tried to recreate the problem but couldn't. Does this always happen? Try deleting the route (Highlight the route in the List and just hit delete) and try again.

I did that and it did it againI restarted basecamp and then it didn't do it. fingers crossed that's it sorted. thanks for reply
