Garmin Striker 4 Best Low Cost Fish Finder Problem

I ran into a problem when I started to install my new Garmin STRIKER Plus 4cv, watch the video to see the problem and my solution.

Helpful man. Got a Minn Kota Max 50 and was looking into buying this fish finder and thought about mounting it on there, but this definitely changes things...

Did you post a follow up video after you added the transducer mount? I am curious if it was affected being next to the motor like it is. My GF has a friend that lives in Rosebud so I may fish the Little Red if we go and visit her. Thank

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to do a follow-up video, and working to make ends meet has gotten in the way of my video-making. If you are up that way The Red is definitely worth the extra drive from Rose Bud. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

Great resource! thanks for sharing it, just run into this problem and was looking for a troubleshooting solution. I wonder how long did you run it (since this is from 2019) and if the side install at some point impacted the Minkotta in anyway?

It's stills on there and never had any problems with it. I really need a new motor anyway, that one was old when we got the boat so if it goes I will just have to save my pennies and get a new one. Thanks for watching!

The striker 4 cv comes with a mount that you hose clamp to the motor

It does, the problem with my motor was the placement of the keel and the length of the transducer had my transducer hitting the blades of the trolling motor. That’s why I purchased the bracket for the shaft. Thanks for watching and the comment.

It is easier to see than my old black and white one. I got it mainly to find brush piles for crappie which I sit for about 80% of time while fishing, but it can be seen. I also have it right up on the front with me it could be harder to see on bright days if you mounted it farther back. Hope that helps, thanks for watching and the comment

I plan just using mine on jon boat w/trolling motor. My question to you is that transducer possibly compatible with a suction cup mount? Nice info & really happy you caught my attention on this!

+Dave Trent not sure how strong the suction cups are and the transducer is pretty long so it may not hold it. I did recently see a video of a synthetic block that you glue on the back of the boat and you can attach it to that and it looked a lot like a plastic cutting board, will have to research that more. @@ArkansasFishingVideos I've used suction cups before & had a safety leash attached. I spend most of my time at slow speeds & search for key features that produce productive results. Learning your lakes by learning your electronics info is to me like going to bass school & learning all I can about bass & bass migratory behavior. I scribed & look forward to more useful info from You. I fished Caddo Lake for 8 years in Shreveport & now in Richmond,Va with the James River, lakes of all sizes & of course the Chesapeake Bay. Tight Lines & thanks~!

Anyone know how well transducers work when epoxied to the inside of the hull on an aluminum boat?

That’s something I didn’t look into, I know they do it in fiberglass boats. I also saw someone use putty when putting one in the bottom of a kayak. Not sure if you have to have a special transducer for aluminum. Thanks for watching and the comment.

It will work on aluminum if you don’t have and air bubbles in the adhesive. The same with fiberglass.

Is there anyone out there who is having transducer disengaged problems with their garmin striker 4 ? If so how did you solve the problem ?

Larry I haven't had any problems with mine maybe someone else watching has and can tell you how they fixed it.

It looks to me like you're trying to mount the transducer with the transom mount instead of the trolling motor mount.

Sorry the video is a little miss leading because I had already take the trolling motor mount off. The main issue is that the transducer is so long and the trolling motor head is a little to short to mount it on the there without the transducer going out past the prop. It would probably work fine on a new trolling mount with a longer head but I just didn’t have the money for that. Thanks for watching and the comment

Did not mean to agree so scratch that the transducer on that Garman unit has a strap that goes through the trolling motor Mount I personally bought the bracket with his recommendation and it worked perfect with my Garman because it didn’t fit my Johnson trolling motor neither thank you for that advice on the bracket!!

Transducers are a pain to mount. Seems like theres no real good place to put one.

What is the actual measurement of the transducer (length)??

Yeah, I should have done that before I purchased mine. The newer trolling motors seem to have longer larger heads. I will probably upgrade my motor at some point just need to same the coins.
