Great overview, thanks for sharing! I've been using Gaia GPS via Android Auto, which would be fantastic if the app had decent turn-turn-turn navigation and development were more active, but I'm finding it to be quite buggy lately. And would much prefer a dedicated device. I'd love to see how you're getting on with the Tread 1 month (and hopefully many kms of offroading) later. Look forward to the next update (but I guess I'll have to be patient, I know how time-consuming video-making can be). Cheers and keep up the good work!

Thank you, 10” is too big IMHO for my dash and it would also cover more of my view out the windscreen too. I made a cutout of the 10 before I got one, totally out of whack on the dah for me.

Hi., Found this video, incredibly useful. I am looking at the tread XL for the Jeep rubicon 392 and have the 67d platform as well. In your opinion, is 10 inch screen too big and 8 inch is better option. I prefer to buy once and cry once.

Hi. 10 is too big, 8 is perfect size. I replaced the ball on the rear with a 67d amps bracket, then connected it to a medium arm. 👍🏻

What are your thoughts on running the radio as well with tread xl for trail coms an keeping track of everyone in your group

Haven’t looked into it TBH. Radio is not my strong point. Not sure what bands they run on, ans what everyone else needs in the convoy. I have a CB radio which works fine. Time to research 👍🏻

Not sure I can do that, as i sold my iPad mini, that’s the biggest saving, one less device, the tread has been excellent. I use Gaia to map things out, then export them to the tread, so I don’t need both.

Hi, I have similar vehicle with dual battery, same roof rack, on board ARB air, Laser 18 elite light bar below front grille and 42 version for flood lighting at front of the roof rack etc and undertaking mods as time and budget permits, I found the excellent 67 Design rails and fittings for GoPro etc. When searching I can a cross these excellent t videos and love the mods, especially in the rear load space. ( given me some ideas on my LHD -I currently live in the Nordics thus the need for the light bars 😁) I am curious on two points initially, firstly, how did you fix the 67D rail to the dash without removing, seems you have secures to the windscreen air vents which is very tight for tool space etc? I was looking at under-plating the speaker grille to stiffen and install rail, but like your install. Cannot see a video on this ? Secondly, dual battery I have installed + to main rear fuse board, but used rear bumper bolt as my Negative, the fixing you used, seemed to throw continuity errors using my split charge, just wondered if yiu experienced any issue yourself - I assume not!

Thank you! Glad you found the content of use. The 67d rail is attached into the plastic before the vents, how was it done? the top dash was removed and the rail screwed in, that’s the only way can be fitted. It;s also glued in too. Without the arms, you can’t see the rail with the dash top on. I don’t have my 12V house battery hooked up yet to the start battery, it’s still stand alone, I can charge it via solar, and shore power. You can’t get as consistent 12V’s off that read fuse box because of the way the can bus system distributes power. I will have to run a positive feed from the start battery, by pass the can bus system, through the firewall to the BMS in the back. No other way around it, and something I have to do this spring. Hope that answers your questions 😀

@@Overlanding4WD many thanks I shall keep tracking here on in with your progress. My split charge does seem to operating correctly, but also provides a reduction in potential low power errors that can occur. I looked for an opportunity to pass through the fire wall, but limited locations other than passing via glove box fuse box into cabin and following the door tread under carpet looms or via centre console into boot, but tricky! Be interested to see how you end up tracing and routing your bypass. If I find a suitable solution beforehand will share with you also. Safe travels!

Tread for me, better mounting solutions on the dash for me, 8” screen is better than an iPad mini IMHO

How did you change the 1.5' original ball to the 67 D ball? It was easy ?

67d sell either an DAM plate, 2 bolt, or an AMPS plate, 4 bolt, either will fit the Tread. I have a AMPS 4 bolt plate on mine. Yes, just take off the 1.5 inch balls, 4 bolts, attach plate above, done, 5 mins. 👍🏻

Looks really nice mate. I know you were hesitant with it being android based. Has that proven a deal breaker??

So far, so good, much better screen and detail. Even though it’s Android, it is OK, so far, I’t clunky to get the maps installed and loaded from another device or system, but I have figured that out. More testing needed, but all the Spain routes are loaded and have excellent detail on the maps. Trimming down to one device was the plan, this might just work for me. Guess we shall see 👍🏻

Here in Southern Africa a very popular mapping solution called Tracks4Africa appears to be incompatible with the Tread. Exactly what the issue is I’m not certain?

I just convert my tracks into gpx files and load them through the app, and they transfer and load into the tread, no issues in loading files as long as they are gpx files.

They are excellent. But you have to make sure that the gps antenna as a decent view of the sky, or it will lose them in certain situations. So make sure you mount it correctly in your vehicle. Getting trails on the device required the Tread app, and it needs to sync from the app to the device. Cumbersome, but you get used to it. 👍🏻

Ηello & Merry Christmas to all. Can someone use it to Truck? Does the device give you the option to choose if you want to set navigation by car or truck or bus? Βecause if it have only for Car, then it's trashy. ☹👎

you can set the device up with a vehicle profile, width, height, 4x4 etc. It’s not ecen close to being “trashy” it’s an excellent device, with great features for any vehcile, mall or large, road or off road.

@@Overlanding4WD I meant that except from the car, if I want to transfer it to a bus or truck for navigation if i can use it. Device for 3-1 i mean (Car... Bus... Truck) Understood? Cause I don't want to waste my money unjustly... 😁

You can install it anywhere on a flat surface,it comes with a big suction cup mount, as I show in the video. I just don’t need it for my vehicle.
