Saw him at both concerts at Notre Dame, 80,000 people singing every word of every song with him, incredible!! Garth has been my favorite since 1990!. The third verse of "The Thunder Rolls" and "Friends in Low Places" are only performed in concert.

There is an extended version, it is only done on live shows (although you can get it on CD on his LIVE album). You need to look out for it saying extended version or live version otherwise you won't get that final verse.

Yes this song is about cheating and domestic abuse. When this song was released with the video visual in the early 90s people were not ready for it. The music video channels canceled it and wouldn't show it because at the time it was too graphic for country music. The story around the video and how the 3rd verse that you hadn't heard yet is pretty amazing. Glad to say I've been a Garth fan since 89'.

The third verse is always in his live performances, and when they play it on the radio where he grew up. Britt, u r right, she did worry where he was until she smelled the perfume!!! LOVE ur reactions!!! Stay well & blessed!!!

They don't play the added verse on the radio. I'm from his hometown not one Oklahoma City station has ever played the live version that I know of. The added verse in both Thunder Rolls and Friends in Low Places were only done live and only recorded on the Double Live album.

That 4th verse is only available for the live concert performances so make sure if you like that last verse make sure you have a live version on your playlist.

"That Summer" is another by Garth that has a fantastic story!. It is very difficult to find a version of a Garth song that is actually him singing if it is not a live version. Great reaction!!!

I saw him when I was 13 and again when I was 38. Hands down the two best concerts of my life!!!! No one can do what he does to a crowd!!! It is a spiritual experience!!

Been to many concerts from the Eagles to The Beach Boys and all seven of Garth’s concerts I’ve attended beat the rest by far! He’s the greatest showman!

The final verse was for live performances only because it wouldn’t air on radio. Brooks was my 2nd concert o ever went to. Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in the mid-90s. Truly an experience!!!

This song was how I was introduced to country music! I haven't turned back since! I suggest you listen to anything Lisa Hartman Black or her husband Clint Black sing. the music video adds so much context to the song and he was amazing in concert a few years ago not being a spring chicken he was still running and jumping all over stage and made it feel like every part of the stadium got the best show from the nose bleeds to the front row

As someone else mentioned in the comments, when this was first released, it was very controversial. The official video especially. Another song that generated a bit of controversy was Reba's "She Thinks His Name Was John". They were both songs a bit ahead of their time, considering the topics they approached.

Great reaction! Only the live version has that last verse, and your reaction to hearing it for the first time was so adorable. My mom "dragged" me to see Garth Brooks (her favorite) back when I was probably your age. I left the concert as a fan! I bought his CD's and listened to them nonstop until I knew the words to every song. lol I'm now turning 60, and I am still a huge Garth Brooks fan.

I've seen Garth Brooks in concert many times, but in the early 90s he cam in concert and he was here for 3 nights in a row and I went to all 3 and it was like a new experience every night, the way he draws every single person is such an amazing thing to witness, if you ever have the opportunity..go!!!

You should check out when he sang "Calling Baton Rouge" in Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA. The audience was so loud it caused a small earthquake which was quickly called "Garthquake" ❤😂

This is why I appreciate you, Britt. You take the time to re-react to a song when it wasn't quite right or different the first time. I really wish you could see the original music video for this, which has Garth acting as the naughty husband, and in the video, it plays out the 3rd verse even though it doesn't play the 3rd verse. I also wish you could see the video for The Dance and If Tomorrow Never Comes. Not only are the songs great, but the videos just hit that spot in your heart and mind that gives it a personal meaning. There's nothing like it, and this is why I watch reaction videos to songs I know and cherish, because watching your face and the faces of others watching these songs for the first time, is like reliving the first time we heard them, which gives that awesome nostalgic feel, but also seeing it new through someone else's eyes and experience. Sometimes, I get a new perspective on a song that I've heard thousands of times over decades when a reactor sees something I may have missed!

In 2001, Garth Brooks had a Coast to Coast to Coast tour where he played live at the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast. In November of that year he performed his last televised concert on the Gulf Coast in South Padre Island, TX. People watched live as a cold front, or what we call a northern, blew in. The wind kicked up, the rain poured down and temperatures dropped to the high 30s. I was going to go to that concert but I had to work that night. 😞

I recommend the Dallas concert from This Is Garth Brooks! He hadn't revealed the new verses yet so the crowd had no idea what was coming. In fact, that whole video is worth reacting to, every song is crisp and clear and you get Garth's full personality and stage presence.

Never worry about missing an occasional song. Even when you miss it, the reactions are genuine and entertaining. Don't be surprised if some of us (your fans) clarify when you do miss the point. Garth has some songs where he adds another verse in concert. I'd not heard this verse until now. However, I'd read some comments online about this last verse. Reminds me a little of his song Papa Loved Mama.

My parents were huge Garth Brooks fans when I was a kid, and they listened to country all the time when we were in the car, so I got to hear this song when it first came out. So when I watched your other reaction, I was like, oh, she didn't hear the third verse. IIRC it got banned from TV, and I think some radio stations stopped playing the version with the third verse eventually, but I vividly remember hearing it as a kid. And I was like, wow, without the third verse, the context around the song changes a lot. Was wild watching your reaction to it.

Yes, I remember when it first came out. Many radio stations cut the last verse. It was deemed to be too violent for the airwaves. You could only hear it this way in concert.

It wasn't on the record for them to play. It's only on Double Live not the album the song came out on. It was never meant to be on radio, yes the scene is in the original video but the verse never was meant to be for anything but live shows.

Many bands do a cover of this song, but the band Overscene does a rock/metal cover of this song and they capture that feeling so well that...even as a Garth Brooks fan... I have to say that is my favorite version of this song ever

Yup. Only live version has 3rd verse that is the end of the story. All of the covers are the album version. Same with friends in low places.

Was fun to watch you react to the 4th verse! 🫶 If you are eventually in a place that you can binge on Garth in your own time, I recommend watching his LIVE IN CENTRAL PARK concert that was widely broadcast... there were 1M people in attendance!!!! He is the best concert I have EVER been to, saw him here in Denver. Lastly... I have converted my parents to enjoying quite a few Country artists, and Garth is one. They were able to see him in Denver in 2019. Their reaction? "It was magnificent!" 👏💯 P.S. Yay! You saw the Upchurch cover! 🤘

The last verse of some Garth songs were PUSHING the envelope when he realized them. This and Friends Low Places were banned from radio. Big country drama. Garth was vilified.

It’s hard finding Garth Brooks songs that aren’t live without the secret verse in them. The thunder rolls is one of them and friends in low places is another one. There are, or should I say, in the majority of his albums you will not find the secret versus, but occasionally you do get lucky
