He truly is an incredible guy, he's got more talent in his little finger than most other artists and it's an absolute honour to have grown up over the last 20 years listening to his music

I really do not understand the hateful comments. The depth and insight when it comes to inspiration and understanding of music he has is very inspiring. What Gary does is just much more simplified than some deeper understanding of things, and that should never be confused with something of lesser quality. Very nice video!

The whole point of this interview is supposed to "listen" and "gain advice" from a songwriter. Not to hear a opinion from a nobody called Zane Lowe... I was hoping to learn something i felt so sorry for Gary. He has so much patience and he was generous with his time! Thank you Gary... I wish i could of learnt more from this but i couldn't but i blame Zane for that!

This interview emphasises that songwriting is a journey. Like all journeys it has twists and turns and unforeseen events that are either positive or negative but can all be used - depending on how objective you can be - to your benefit. It is also important to find your own voice.

i dont understand why people are so annoyed by lowe. i actually prefer this "conversation" type interview, instead of just a Q & A. he had some good, insightful things to say as well
@wirezts10 жыл бұрын
He's a REAL positive thinker isn't he?! Everything is "great" or "beautiful", I wonder if this has added to his success?
@JakeRiley8 жыл бұрын
Of course it did. Every major success has that mentality
@wirezts3 ай бұрын
@@JakeRiley absolutely not true. The realm of success is full of spite, bitterness, loneliness, sadness, competition and existentialism. The idea that positivity and success are innate is a myth taken from the combination of New Thought and the protestant work ethic. Many "successful" people are deeply unhappy. Just look at Robbie. He's hardly [been] a beacon of positivity.

I kept thinking the same thing. Gary's showing us the troubles of being a vulnerable artist in his explanations and Zane is clearly not understanding it. Gary carries on nicely, though.

Everyone, lay off the interviewer and interviewers in general! They are just genuinely enthusiastic about the person they are interviewing. At least they actually speak rather than sit there star struck, which is what 99% of the people criticising here would be like in their position. Just be grateful the interviews exist at all.

Zane Lowe is the very definition of 'hipster'. You're inside, take your scarf off. I highly doubt you need those glasses. The thing that annoys me the most is how he treats it like musician v musician. He asks Gary Barlow questions, he answers them and then no matter what Gary says, Zane acts like he knew the answer all along and just repeats back what Gary Barlow has just said.

there's more to writing to lyrics. take that are enduringly popular for many reasons, but they wouldn't be half of where they are now if not for barlow's (and since the reunion, other members) abilty to write.

I'am a songwriter..I don't play piano that great..but I write songs that the world hasn't heard yet that will blow the minds of all my famous colleagues......I found the interview very subliming..Mr.Lowe was only intrigued about Gary's depth knowledge about songwwriting..I have the same first name as Mr.Barlow..funny to know that when you become famous through your work and the ones like me who are not so known still struggle for a massive audience. but I still love the process
@KatManDude12 жыл бұрын
It's funny how the host just loves the wonderfully "original" pattern at 45:25 when it's note for note the intro to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." If this guy is Britain's greatest ever pop songwriter, the entire place has either gone mad or has mass amnesia.

It's because he is full of himself. A class example of being in love with the sound of his own voice.This is why he probably became a DJ..He thinks what he has to say is far more important than anyone else. The sad thing is, is that he appears to know this, but he carries on regardless.

Gary Barlow comes across very well in this video. Zane Lowe, on the other hand, demonstrates that although he may have a radio-friendly voice he clearly knows nothing about the art of creating music and writing songs. What a wasted opportunity - the BBC should have got someone much more qualified to do this interview.

The Sarin gas is released at 41:51. Oh sorry, that's wishful thinking.
@Carlociraptor11 жыл бұрын
I was pointing out that your reference to the knowledge of the OP bares no relevance in terms of this interview, where Zane Lowe's knowledge does, so stating "I bet you don't either" is redundant. Also your response to me "You don't know yourself", excuse me sir, but you have never met nor spoken to me, my knowledge on certain subjects is unknown to you.
