+Max Wilson it stopped being cool in the hood. I used to get made fun of in high school for playing the guitar. "This nigga think he white playing that shit" are things you heard. I'm from the Bronx and love music like this

+Dave Moncion That's pretty much what I assumed, it just sucks. 85% of modern blues is made by, and for, upper middle-class white people. So I can only imagine how other kids would react to you playing guitar. We should have a mandatory music course in our public school system that focuses on the history of American music and where it came from. Maybe then African American youths will understand that this music is part if who they are, and have more right to playing it than most of these so-called "Blues artists" today. I love hearing good hip hop, but it would be a really cool thing to see an inner-city movement of a new blues revival. (I think the big A&Rs would aggree too. they're all looking for black kids playing heavy blues right now, the only problem is there aren't really any out there.)
