Gary Lineker is a former professional footballer, regarded as one of the greatest English strikers in history.
Since retiring from football, Gary moved into sports broadcasting, presenting the football show Match of the Day since the late 1990s, the longest tenure of any MOTD presenter!
This episode is more than just football, Gary shares with us how crucial positive thinking and practising gratitude were for his success. He shares that although he worked hard, he didn’t put loads of thought into living a high performance life - he attributes a lot of his success to good luck and waiting his turn.

Sports broadcaster Jake Humphrey and leading organisational psychologist Professor Damian Hughes are hosting every conversation. Jake is currently BT Sport’s Premier League anchor and former face of BBC’s Formula One coverage. I was really touched by Gary’s openness. I’ve watched him with Alan Shearer n Micha Richards on there show, his funny their funny together. I would never have seen him as this person so open yet in his voice at times I felt a sadness cant quite find the right word. From funny with Alan n Micha to deep, loved the insight. Gary my message to you keep being funny n have good people around you like Alan n Micha and anyone else who makes you happy. Thank You.

In my opinion, Gary Lineker felt no 'pressure' playing football because he surely knew the fact that Maradona's technique was completely unreachable for the rest of 'common' players... So, he became an uncommon and top player without knowing it, just naturally. :)

Gary Lineker, forever a pale version of the legendary Mr. Des Lynam; in the mid 1980's I delivered a black Audi to Gary and his former wife Mrs Michelle Cockayneat at Dovercourt Motors in Saint Johnswood, London (on a freezing rainy day accompanied by my little brother who adored Gary as a player) I politely asked Gary for an autograph on the behalf of my little brother only to be rejected. Thanks Gary for teaching me an important lesson to always remain humble during my show business career. The fact that my brother and I are both black you be the alleged judge? Mr. Liniker I hope for your sake that you were simply having a bad day.

Gary is a consummate professional. Likeable, cheeky, but true. A true example to not just the boys and girls kicking balls, but those picking up microphones and wanting a TV career.
