Gary Neville shares his brutally honest opinion on the Carlos Tevez transfer saga, claiming that Tevez "downed tools" during his final days at Manchester United. His also reveals how and when he finally started to take Manchester City seriously, highlighted by the arrival of Pep Guardiola and the investments of Sheikh Mansour.
Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian has now responded to Neville's claims explaining Tevez was fully committed to Manchester United and highlighted the Argentine's record for the club in the 2008/09 season.

The Boro team that featured the likes of Rav, Junino, Emerson, Merson, Barmby etc were a delight not just to the Boro faithful but also many neutral fans loved watching us, would be interesting to hear what the professionals of yesteryear thought about that team, we came from outta the darkness to competing against the elite, quality new stadium & constantly sold out, top manager & chairman (Robson & Gibbo) top training facilities, and top stars from the UK and Europe to boot, Rav's hatrick against Liverpool on his debut, beating Chelsea on the opening of the stadium, three cup finals in a year not forgetting the UEFA cup final and how we got there, the last two games to that final having to score 4 goals each game to get through and Massimo getting them both right at the end of the game, lighting striking twice, UTB,

I disagree with Souness around about 8:00 here - when you think about how Starbucks would open stores opposite small coffee shops. Going out of their way to take customers from the opposition by pushing their prices down, so much so that they would run a net loss in that branch until the smaller shop has to shut down and then Starbucks is the only coffee around. It means good coffee is harder to come by. It's not a perfect analogy here but I disagree that strong competition inherently "makes you better".

Isn't it a bit concerning that super rich owners are allowed to buy multiple clubs? Why do UEFA allow someone to own more than one European club? It leaves European leagues open to corruption. For example, RB Salzburg v RB Leipzip - there will always be the suspision that Red bull might have skewed the game somehow so their preferred winner went through.

@@denzel1989 It's not right. There should be rules stopping owners buying different clubs even if they can never compete against each other. If say the Liverpool owners bought a club in Portugal which was effectively used as a "feeder" club so Liverpool could send out youngsters and buy the team's talent at knock down prices , it would lessen the integrity of the Portuguese league as one club would be acting in the interests of LFC rather than striving to compete in its own league. Even if RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are in reality completely separate clubs, there is still a perception that something untoward is going on which in itself devalues the competition.

It’ll be interesting to see how city get on when Pep leaves. They’ll have the money still but they won’t have his managerial brilliance.
@HiddenGhul
@HiddenGhul 4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s more to do with how they evolve as a club. Will they stick to his philosophy, who will they bring in to carry on or change his system/style, will players stick around for the new vision. When you look at Barca post-Pep while they’re still successful they’re a shadow of the Pep era side. Terrible transfers, manager appointments, bottling on the European stage, loss of identity etc.

Rasengan that’s what’ll happen with city if they don’t get his replacement right. Maybe they’ll look at Barcelona and realise that they have to go and get the right manager if they don’t want to end up with inferior players and an aging squad.

Why should tevez care about a rivalry between United and City. He is not from the area and did not come up through the ranks. The only rivalry he most likely cares about is Boca and River plate. I never understood why foreign players are held to these standard in regards to loyalty.

Very interesting video. Souness doesn't know what he's talking about as usual but other than that you can clearly see from this interview/conversation the unfair advantage that City and Chelsea have had. United earned their riches, they deserved to be on their perch. They were one of the best and therefore one of the most popular clubs. Out of nowhere they get 2 rivals who have no limit whatsoever. Outside money shouldn't be allowed in football IMO. Match day revenue, player sales and sponsors should be it and it should be investigated thoroughly each season. And no, I'm not even a United supporter. I just miss real football where clubs were more than just a brand.

For Tevez, I would blame it on Sir Alex as he has all the time to sign him on but didnt exercise the rights when he said he would sign up tevez after the champions league final win. When you are a football player and especially Tevez who was owned by a 3rd party, you would be panicking when the club who told you they would sign you on didnt. The other reason was because United signed Berbatov that season and felt the importance of Tevez wasnt that strong anymore.

b1ackv1p3r Ironically wasn’t the season after the best season of Rooneys career though? He absolutely carried United that year if I remember right. I feel sorry for Rooney, spent his whole career getting moved around positions for the good of the team yet still put in world class performances every year, finished as United and England’s all time top scorer and the man still doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Probably because a lot of people buy into the personality of english players in their over assessment of them. Not that i think rooney is a bad guy, from what I've seen. But he received plenty of abuse from the media and rival fans even as a teenager. Imagine that. His mistake, if you can call it that, was that he didn't conform to keeping quiet nor did he open himself out more until much later in his career. Also, England had a decent amount of club legends in chelsea, liverpool and utd during his time, so it may take some historical distancing until he is fully appreciated.

jason haynes His off field antics definitely never helped his on field legacy, their is probably just as many people who know him as the granny shagging prostitute nuisance than there is a great footballer. But such is life in the fire of the British media. The bigger and better you are the more your looked at watched spied on. Your right there was as he was probably the last of the golden generation, I dare say however that he was better than all of the rest of that generation.

It's pathetic what the Glazer's have done to United. They should never have been allowed to own them to begin with. It's a black eye on the FA, The Premier League & The UK Government to allow the World's greatest sporting entity be acquired like it was. If United were just left alone to run naturally, the past 7 years would have been easily avoided & things would be far better than they are now with football & stadium operations. As long as the Glazers are in charge, Manchester United is operating at a handicap. Not their full potential. PL fears to see United at their best because they don't need a dime of anyone's money! They just need someone to stop stealing all theirs!!!

The club is in a healthy position and they are not dominated by the fact they hare a listed company. Before the Glaziers Utd were subjected to super stringent rules that was strangling the club. Utd could do nothing without the share holders and then the regulators approving things.

Sky should realize that these names aren't going to make us remember the whole conversation in the long term. Since we're getting, and will continue to get, many such discussions in due course, they should seriously consider naming these videos by the topics being discussed instead. This one, for instance, could have been called "Neville and Souness on Carlos Tevez, Man City, Abu Dhabi ownership"

He was more of his attitude then the money but maybe he should've kept him when Ronaldo left and Tevez left as well. We could've been competiting for CL and won more PL if Tevez stayed. Rooney was forced to be the main guy after Ronaldo left it showed how bad our other goal scorers were in 09 10 season. Berbatov at 14 goals that season only until 2010 11 season he was on fire.
