Gary Puckett & The Union Gap (initially credited as The Union Gap featuring Gary Puckett) was an American pop rock group active in the late 1960s. The group, formed by Gary Puckett, Gary "Mutha" Withem, Dwight Bement, Kerry Chater and Paul Wheatbread, who eventually named it The Union Gap, had its biggest hits with "Woman, Woman", "Young Girl", "Lady Willpower", "Over You", "Don't Give In to Him", and "This Girl Is a Woman Now". The members featured costumes that were based on the Union Army uniforms worn during the American Civil War. Jerry Fuller gave the act a recording contract with Columbia Records. The group eventually grew unhappy with doing material written and produced by others, leading them to stop working with Fuller. The band eventually disbanded, and Puckett went on to do both solo work and collaborations. He has resumed his performing with a new band, along with touring with The Happy Together Tour and some performances with Ringo Starr & his all-star band.

Saw Gary over the summer at a Happy Together show. Can't believe I was hearing THAT VOICE in person. Never saw an audience so engaged. On our feet the entire time Gary performed with everyone singing every word. This probably happens at every concert he sings...but it felt like that room was floating in a world of its own inside of Gary's music and THAT VOICE.

wow a recent 9.15.22 interview done on my youngest brother's birthday in heaven! it was outstanding. that was a terrific interview, his current singing in the video clips, and i watched also a different video where he called special senior fans celebrating their 50th anniversary. at the end he started singing YOUNG GIRL GET OUT OF MY LIFE, and dad really came to life thoroughly enjoying it. gary, your voice is still good on going on 80/81. thanks from ames, iowa lifelong fan, betty gordon

San Diego still claims Gary as a homegrown guy. Not exactly true, but still cool we were part of a start of a big dream that came true. Happy Birthday Gary!

Gary Pucket’s such a class act. He gives great background in this interview. Couple suggestions to the interviewer - make sure both mikes are close in volume. I had to turn volume way down when you interjected. Also, keep your interjections brief, we’re here for Mr. Pucket. After hearing a song or great story, at least give some positive response rather than just a blank stare or slight nod.

Tammy, thank you for the suggestions. Back when this interview was done I was still trying to find the sweet spot on my mic. The reason for the blank stare or nod has to do with the fact that the songs are interjected at strategic points since my episodes are not done live, so coming out of a song clip, might be a continuation of what the artist was talking about before the song. I appreciate your criticism about brief interjections. Thanks again.

@@talkandrockradio My apologies for the negative comments. I watched this during my morning coffee while I shouldn’t communicate. The interview was really good, one of the best I’ve seen with Gary Pucket. The volume thing annoyed me and I’m glad you’ve fixed it. Please disregard my bitchiness.

@@tammykosiancic - no problem, Tammy. I appreciate creative criticism. I’m on my third year doing podcasting and am still growing. If my shows were streamed live It would definitely put more pressure on me to correct the areas you pointed out. The other thing is that I am a one person production with no one in a control room turning knobs etc. Thank you and have a great weekend.
