My father and brother both served in Vietnam and my brother was a Green Beret who had PTSD the worst I’ve ever witnessed. My sister and I served during the time of Desert Storm my son has served currently 13 years in the United States Navy. As a profession I work at The National personnel records center helping veterans receive their benefits. I read their stories each and every day. Some are good some are bad like each and everyone of us but, what you do truly makes a difference in So many lives for so many people who our country has forgotten and I want to say thank you

Come on, guys... Don't you really, in your heart of hearts, want Samuel L. Jackson to talk about some of the crap you went through in the service and say 'motherfucker' just for you? [Just joking, but there's a little truth in that, isn't there?]

Thank you America to your Armed forces, huge respect from a British ex infantry soldier who had the honour to serve with them. We say on our remembrance day. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. We will remember them. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Bill Huber Gary can speak the words of men from WW II, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, or any first responder and you feel they are his own words. Because of Gary’s heart we’re able to have a glimpse into these brave men. Some came home, some didn’t. Gary is a friend and messenger to America for all of them. God bless, John and all the brave warriors that fight to get themselves back.

I am an Army guy. I know that we all give each other hell about being in the Marines or the Air Force and the Navy and Coast Guard. I look at it this way, We are all family. There wouldn't be anything that I wouldn't do for any service member. John Peck, you are a true inspiration and you might not think so, but a Hero as well. Our Government, unfortunately, doesn't believe in putting troops first when they come home. So we as brothers and sisters have to help and make sure everyone is taken care of. Find places that you can help an do it. Remember: "Aim High, Fly-Fight-Win", "Forged by the Sea", "Army Strong", "The Few, The Proud", "Born Ready". We also need to spread this around for Gary: #SiniseMedalofFreedom

Indy, I thank you from the heart, from someone who is from a multi branch serving family, for your service to our country.

I'm Army too. Worse, I'm a cavalryman, with all the hoo-ah shit that implies. We may talk shit about each other, but God help your about-to-be-very-unhappy ass if muck with one of us. A sailor will help out an airman trying to help out a Coast Guardsman helping a soldier. The Brotherhood [Siblinghood?] of the 214 is real. And you can tell one of us just by looking. And Gary Sinise is one of us. 'Lt. Dan' was just a role in a movie. A good role, one with lots of emotion, screen time and pathos, and one that a lot of actors would fight to get. But it was just a role. What Mr. Sinise has done for us goes WAY beyond an actor's work. He is a one man Wounded Warrior Foundation, a walking VA, and a USO in one humble, human package. So yeah, Gary Sinise *deserves* a Medal of Freedom with Distinction. And every veteran in the United States defies anyone to say otherwise.
@jamesdick25804 жыл бұрын
@Indy Custom Made.......fellow Army Veteran here. and i agree. yeah we different branches give each other alot of crap for being in diferent branches, but it's all in good fun. sorta like the bickering siblings who like to give each other crap, but in the end, the love and respect is there.

John Peck. Your story, the fact that you chose not to give up, not to quite in the face of overwhelming obstacles, are an inspiration. Gary Sinise. Your compassion and empathy for our country’s military people. Your hard work to help those who have sacrificed so much for us are heartwarming and an example of how we should treat those who have given so much for us. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

Again, I want to say how much of an inspiration you have been to me as a Nurse and as a human being. On this tiny Island of Newfoundland surrounded by the Atlantic you were here for a little over 24 hours where we cared for you until the medivac team came to get you. I will never forget you. I knew your story from news and seeing this you tube video makes me so proud of you. You are a wonderful man, you are a fighter an inspiration to people who feel like giving up. I've prayed for you many times. God Bless you and your family. I wrote in your little journal book you had on you. It was words of encouragement. Never give up John. You have an important purpose not just to veterans and to soldiers, but to everyday people. God Bless your journey.

Watching this video reminds me of when I was in 7th grade and we were playing football in the rain and the QB always gave the football to this guy who was about 225 pounds and everyone moved out of the way, except me. When the bell rang everyone had to go to their class and the guy came up to me and shook my hand and said I have a lot of respect for you and I said why, and he said you are not afraid of me right, and I said why because of your weight, no I am not afraid of you and I don't even know who you are. FROM then on he never played football on recess.And that was well over 50 years ago

I've seen wives leave their service husbands in times of dire need. Such a tragedy. One of my guys got cancer. It was first noticed in his lafet calf of all places, but then spread to his lungs. In the middle of it all his wife told him she was leaving. Talk about a low blow. Because of that he also had to sell their small ranch as they were co-owners. His beloved horses had to go and he ended up living in a trailer with just his dog. Of course, we rallied aroud him and he got through it. Still, it is unfathomable to me that a person who has sworn "have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part", could do such a thing.
