Do you get tired of gas in your face when shooting suppressed? It's ok to admit it happens but we have a solution that 4 out of 5 suppressed shooters approve! (The fifth shooter is being too macho to admit they aren't crying)
In this video we show you how to make your own DIY Gas busting Charging Handle on the cheap and super simple. This little mod makes shooting a suppressed AR so much more enjoyable. No Gas in Face. Enjoy and thanks for watching! Post a photo of your modified charging handle below and we will pick our favorite by the end of the year for a surprise.

Nice video. I used the exact same product. However, I used Vaseline on the upper. Works perfect, and it doesn't penetrate the silicon like a gun lube would. The shoe polish is an interesting idea, but I'll keep using Vaseline because it worked perfectly and is very simple.

By far yours is the most comprehensive video on this modification. I will be doing this to my charging handle. Another good mod to compliment this is the forward assist delete and replacement with a forward assist gas port which has helped tremendously on my 9mm Suppressed carbine. Keep up the great work with the attention to detail.

so, how does this compare to a pri charging handle or whatever, in terms of mitigated blowback? and, how long did the solution last? (meaning, did you have to put silicone on again after 1000 rounds or something?)

First off, better diy work than most I've seen. Second, I have an ar15 I recently installed some goofy sharp spiked muzzle break on. additionally, I equipped it with a red dot, which sits a tad higher than the iron sights. the short of it, I'm noticing considerable amounts of gases and oils I'm my face when shooting. I'm a lefty, but from what I can tell it has nothing to do with the ejection port or forward assist, seems centered and possibly from the charging handle area. so it's NOT suppressed. and I feel the muzzle break isn't very restricted. Are there other reasons, possibly performance issues that could cause this? Or is it just as simple as a slightly elevated sight alignment and/or a non a2 birdcage flash hider? Any help is appreciated by author of the video and this particular group of commenters. thanks
@GunsandTactics
@GunsandTactics 7 жыл бұрын
Try shooting it right handed and see if you still feel the gases, if not its likely the ejection port. Most guns on the market are over gassed anyway. If it is you can look at an adjustable gas block or new barrel. -Dave
@toddk1377
@toddk1377 5 жыл бұрын
I had that too, but only when I mounted a muzzle break on my AR. The birdcage didnt do that. It also doesn't help if the rifle is over gased.

Why have backup sights if you can’t use em. Lol scope mount location preventing full up right position. Most of the gasses come out the bottom not the top
@GunsandTactics
@GunsandTactics 3 жыл бұрын
In this case the back up sights are like a spare tire. Yes you can use them but have to take the QD optic off which takes about 15 seconds. Pros cons. Thankfully the LPVO rarely has issues and now since this video was made offset red dot sights have replaced back up sights.

'Need high heat silicone" Huh...all silicone has a melting temp of 500 degree farenheit. There is almost zero difference between the basic RTV and the tube that costs three times as much with the "high heat" sticker on it, FYI.

if the blowback is so bad just take the suppressor off, the glass of water you snook up on will not know the difference. also, is something needs to get shot a little gas in the face will not stop you. next question, why do you need a suppressor that is still too loud to shoot with out protection,. protection is needed at about 89 db. (industry std. for machining. )
@GunsandTactics
@GunsandTactics 5 жыл бұрын
While I don’t care for your tone I’ll still reply. Most all of us on the GT team are active LE or former mil and have and do sneak up on a lot more than a glass of water. Having a suppressor on reduces the noise and blast which is still beneficial when used indoors or in close proximity to others. Often times in the real world we don’t have ear pro, it’s grabs rifle and go. Best regards
