This video was in my KZfaq recommended page... I don’t normally deal with videos with no subtitles or english titles, but this anime is Gate. And I understand these scenes. The first clip, from the first season, shows the strong friendship development of a true friendship between Sherry, the daughter of a noble family, and a representative of the Japanese diplomatic service. In the second clip, we see the aftermath of what happened when the Emperor’s son seizes power from his father, converts the Empire to tyrannical fascist state. Storm Troopers invade the home of Sherry’s parents, the parents set fire to the house killing the storm troopers and themselves. sherry is forced out of the house via secret passage, and she finally after three days traveling incognito, arrives at the Jade Palace containing the Japanese diplomatic mission. She almost losses all hope, wailing to her friend in the Palace; “please save me”. She knew her family’s enemies would imprison, rape and eventually kill her. Ending her entire family line. But wait... is it he? Yes! A knight separates her from her captor, and she rushes to him. Our diplomat rescues a 12-year olds’ faith in Human Nature, she knows that yes there are still good men in the World. -- This is one of the more heartwarming notions in all of anime, not to be missed.

@@GwyndolinSimp Well! Your handle says it all. And your memory of events in ‘Gate’ is flawed. Even our diplomats’ boss pointed out, earlier in the episode, when he decided not to intervene, that he had made a proper diplomats’ decision, but it was a lousy Human decision. She was much happier, when Sugawara went out to save Sherry, knowing full well, that THAT action would bring war to Jade Palace, and death to the troops of the Red Rose Army. Even Sherry told Sugawara that she intended to watch the carnage, since her salvation was contingent upon the protections gained by the very real sacrifices of the Rose Knights. But everyone knew, you can’t marry a dead girl. And after all was said and done, Senator Marcel made a point that the proprieties would be observed, as he was Sherry’s guardian. You attempt to reverse the order of precedence, in which a potential for marriage was indeed present, but you forget that it would never happen for at least 4-years. Much can happen in that period of time. Saving the Life and Future of Sherry, and her family line, was clearly the important thing. Sugawaras’ actions were clearly humanitarian in nature, and outweighed your ideas of ‘waifu politics’. Your comments are bluntly a ‘fire for effect’ outburst, with no reality present. Humor is always more important to some, than a proper interpretation of a story. This episode required that the viewer have a heart, but we see now, that you don’t have one. So for you the episode meant absolutely nothing. What a waste of a homo sapien soul, are you.

@@GwyndolinSimp Again... your handle speaks volumes. You remain unfunny. You descend far down the ladder of civilized discourse, some would want to use the technical term STUPID, to describe your conduct. But that would mean you would need the capacity to learn.... ... but as we all see, you learn nothing, from anything. We are all left with only one term left, to describe your unbelievably bad conduct. You fall to the technical term DUMB. You will always look in the mirror, and never see the actual you, that all of us see. You spout nonsense, thinking it is funny... ... when everyone who reads your posts know just how inane and pointless you are. Your material is not funny, insensitive, crass; and lacking in anything like a purpose built conversation. Meanwhile, people like me see the truth, and you remain that pitiful, but not pitiable creature, that no one can help... because you see and feel nothing for your fellow man.... .... blurting out whatever occurs, in an attempt to be humorous. When all that fails, you resort to shallow insults, and cannot find the exit, in the attempt to save whatever pride you may have left. May God have pity on you, but no one else will help you.

That’s rough buddy. Lol. But for all the sorrow in the world, it’s moments like these that return faith.

I find it weird in those times that little girls were seen as mature instead of just children, but anyways it was funny for the guy to discover the lifestyle through the gate 😆

Not really. The concept of "childhood" was an invention of the Victorian era, as for most of human history, the expected lifespan was about 30 years. The idea of delaying the age of majority to past the midpoint of that was totally impractical. Boys would often experience their first battle at maybe 14 or so. It's generally a mistake to judge older societies by todays standards, because so much of what we take for granted just didn't apply to them

Its normal, even until today i still have this conflicted feeling whenever i see this scene. Like the person above said, children in the past are forced to be mature and expected to get married as early as possible, because life expectancy in that time is incredibly low

What's interesting is that its a cartoon but people treat it as though its real.
At first you think so. How forbidden but who has seen the anime knows better. Because he waits until she is the right age and does nothing more than take care of her until then. All in all a very heartbreaking scene^^

Si!
