Look who's back and bringing moss to the Loch Arkaig Osprey nest! 12 May 2021

Thanks to Woodland Trust from whose livestream I took this clip. Check out their live camera supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/ospreys
This clip shows female Blue 152 arriving at 13.52.05, quickly followed by the Stranger at 13.52.24 who brings a nice clump of moss in his talons. This is good news for activity on the nest this season, but Blue 152 would rather he'd brought fish, judging by her continuous yelling.
There have been three females and two males - Louis and this one, The Stranger - visiting the nest so far this season. Females: this one Blue 152, and two unringed ones, the good looking healthy one on 18th April ( • Slo-mo of Louis the Lo... ), and the small emaciated female who appeared with Louis on the nest 23rd April ( • Is this emaciated unri... ).

Update 12th May 2021: Blue 152 returned to the nest yesterday, followed by The Stranger who first appeared on 7th april. They spent more than an hour on the nest kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r8CblrmSxp_TXXU.html 11/5/2021 There have been three females and two males - Louis and this one, The Stranger - visiting the nest so far this season. Just happened to check the nest just over a hour ago and bingo. 152 female with a mystery male. He has already brought moss. This looks promising. I hope.

Thank you so much Geemoff, lost in a mist of information awaited. Whatever happens, wonderful to see them on our nest. Good luck for their lovely lives. Love the chirping.. Also the Rutland have two chicks. It's a wonderful world. I got a lovely book through Postcode lottery too... chose the nature one. Thank you for your update. Cx known as naughty step.!

So lovely to hear an osprey calling from this nest again! Fast becoming my favourite sound (especially given the lack of it this spring). Thanks, Geemeff :)

@@GeemeffGeemeff watched a couple of Osprey flyovers at my local trout fishery on Saturday. No touchdowns sadly but great to see. 👍

I happened to have a wee look at the nest earlier on and was astounded to see 2 ospreys on the nest. I hope they are going to stay on the nest, but whether any eggs will be produced at this later time will be an added bonus. Fingers crossed and happy watching folk 🙂. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

Theoretically possible still to have viable eggs this late in the season, but looking unlikely for this pair.

They seem to have taken a liking to the nest, fingers crossed they keep coming back - Blue 152 popped in at 05.25 on 14th May.

Definitely! It's great to see any Osprey activity, and a new pair gives hope for Scottish Ospreys to thrive and expand their territory.

Where was 152 tagged... Should that not be on a list somewhere?

The info is recorded on a database, WT have requested the info but this is a very busy time with all the arrivals, new pairings and chicks hatching so there's no response yet. We do know for sure she's Scottish, and other chicks with low 3-digit numbers were ringed in 2018 and 2019 so we're pretty sure she's either two or three years old. Will post an update as soon as possible.
