Gears are hardened by heat treatment. This welded tooth is not heat treated. It will wear off soon, or brake at the fracture line.

You could use the same logic towards the original as well. It is just a calculation: How much for new vs. repaired? For how many hours of use? And how much for the down time of the machine.

As I remember, the gears are produced so the curve of the teeth is in the evolventa curve, (mathematic precision) it must be preciselly done in 0.01 milimeter. This is not the case! Made only for KZfaq show ...

Eso no funciona, se rompe el diente. La cuerda en el diámetro primitivo del diente rellenado ya no tiene precisión. Hazlo con máquina no con amoladora!!

Не удивлюсь если этот зуб под нагрузкой будет работать меньше времени чем его восстанавливали, ну может немного больше, ибо из дерьма конфетку не сделаешь. Из сырого метала электрода обломанный зуб изобразили, на токарном станке от закалённых зубьев искры летели а не стружка как с наварного сырого метала. В общем халтура!

What else can they do? Fedex isn't coming with a replacement. The gear has to be repaired. They have to work with whatever they have on hand. So, some form of gear tooth surgery is what anyone would do in the same situation.
