The original Gears and Halo were the main reasons as to why the Xbox 360 is one of my favorite consoles to this day

I'm just taking a walk down memory lane.... this game was a masterpiece

The boss fights in this game are just amazing. I still remember my blood pumping and my adrenaline rushing the first time I fought a Berserker.

Something that always amazed me about this game is its visual style. That depth-of-field and that gritty grey palette told us that the next-gen was really here. It is truly the game that ushered in the next generation. Its style was imitated even by movies. I like that style even more than the gameplay. I actually never finished the game.

This game still looks great today.

This game was legendary and still one of the greatest of all time, quickly scanned through comments and all the negative blasphemy that I've heard is coming from people that have never played or completed Gears of War or are simply full of it unless your completely not into shooters at all. To say it's repetitive is to talk out of the rear end. There couldn't be more variety of areas, atmosphere, villains or bosses, ammo (besides weapons) to put it nicely. I myself own just about everything you could consider "great" in these last 10yrs and we could call out games all the way back to 1979 or 82 with Atari and Colecovision and proceed straight through. Gears STANDS BY ITSELF and to put things into perspective I'll pick out 2 of Ps3's greatest releases (some would argue best) because I own them also: The Uncharted series and The Last of Us embodied Gears of War within it as the centerpiece of inspiration down to it's control mechanics and then some from the cam that Gears perfected (from Re4) all the way to weapon carrying, quick weapon select, cover system, bow n arrow, pendant finding, shooting mechanics you name it and the the in game story that's constantly being unveiled through characters as you play was also popularized to last gen by Gears of War (same story tell formula introduced by Valve's Half-Life series)...I'm surprised some type of cell phone/communication device was'nt also used by the main characters on a constant basis. Definitely an easy Top Ten Greatest game of A-L-L T-I-M-E.

When I was 12 and saw this for the first time, the only thing I said was 'dad, can you buy me an xbox?' and you know what, even after eight years, this is still my game of recomendation

I was 7 when this game came out and i still remember how i felt. I was amazed by the graphics. I thought there was no way games in the future were going to look better. I was also scared af by the game. The locust gave me nightmares lol

This game was extremely innovative. People look at it now and say it's shit but that's because people have been building off this formula for 7 years and everyone's used to the newer games. Right now this looks terrible but when it came out it was fucking incredible. It's like saying DOOM should only get a 1/10 because the controls and AI aren't as good as CODs.

playing multiplayer on this and gow2 are some of my best memories. i'd go in close range with the shotgun/lancer, my best friend would use sniper/lancer and we'd just decimate every time. we rarely lost. such good times. if i had the $$$ i'd buy an xbone and the re-release, i bet it's a blast.

Another reason I bought an Xbox 360 back in 2007 or 08 if I'm not mistaken because of this excellent exclusive in 360 along with Halo 3, Crackdown, Lost Odyssey and Fable 2

Got to admit I loved the first one beyond words, it was a perfect replacement for Halo 2 for me. Too bad the sequels couldn't keep me even half as interested.

I'm playing this game right now without having played the other single players. I bought judgement for the multiplayer but this games fun as hell. Its also pretty hard since your team constantly dies and u can't be revived

An important modern release in terms of its cover system, for better or for worse.

The control system of this game is basically for Xbox controller, so one button handles 2, 3 or more functions to minimize the number buttons which an Xbox controller lacks of. But when you play with keyboard and mouse, it's very annoying, for example the space button can be used to sprint, cover, jump over object. It would be better if this game has a separate control system for PC. And another thing is the enemies are too hard to kill. Hardly anyone can kill more than 2 enemies with 1 magazine

@Arkaeya THanks for clearing that up. I know their are books and shit that explains all of this and wiki helps, too, but it isn't made very clear in the game itself. And are you sure thats why sinking Jacinto was a bad move? What you said makes sense, but I thought maybe adding all of that water with the emultion would help the Lambeint somehow. Idk, though. You are probably right.
