Here’s something I’ve wanted since I was little, but never owned because for some reason they sell for over $200 on eBay, even broken 😂
So, you can imagine my excitement when I found this one on Mercari, brand new in the box for only $20. I got it on December 11th, 2022 and I couldn’t be happier. The eye/mouth mech had a split gear of course, and I also replaced the gear in the mech that moves the leaves for the heck of it. The way these things are built is just fascinating. I never realized how huge they were until I opened mine for the first time. There are literally sandbags in the base to weight it down, and paired with the 3 C batteries it takes it’s pretty heavy. The whole stem is also pose-able, but I just left it as is so I can fit it back in the box lol. Oh, and did you know these have eyelashes?? Mine also came with sunglasses, which I showed off at the end of the video. I hate them lol. They don’t fit at all, and they’re obviously intended to be placed on the top of the head rather than in front of the actual eyes. But with the tight elastic strap, you can’t really do that without bending the petals all out of shape. I’m so glad they’re not permanently attached. That’s really my only complaint though. This thing is super cool, super well made, and super creepy. A true Gemmy classic.
