Thank you for that beautiful work and thanks for sharing. I have written in the past too. I want to know more about cutting gems. As a practical tutorial, I suggest that you could film a project in greater detail, say with only 8 facets in one round. You could explain, in detail, all the settings on your grinding machine. Sort of from design to grinding machine to finished jewel. Think about it. As always thank you.

Thanks for all the work associated with you videos. I was inspired to purchase a faceting machine and have discovered that it requires an adjustment in perception to successfully facet a gemstone. Precision is king and polish is queen and nothing else will suffice. This latest video illustrates this. The other thing that is amazing and frustrating is that the faceting diagrams are made seemingly by folks who have no interest in people using their diagrams. They start off on obscure points and further that idiocy to make it harder to "do the math" when in actuality it is relative straightforward. I appreciate that you started off on a logical index point and showed the relationship from one row to another. Hmm, comment getting long winded. Thanks again.

Thank you Cliff and Jaws. I am a new faceter and enjoy your videos as I have commented before. Thank you for the reply by the way on earlier comments I made on your videos.. One of the many reasons I enjoy your videos is because there is no gauge you are relying on to tell you when to stop cutting as is used with facetrons. You use experience and skill to tell you when to stop. I have an old rebuilt Lee machine ( an American brand I believe) and when classes start again with my mentor I will have the opportunity to use a rebuilt Graves machine. The other students will be using the facetrons. I made this a request to my mentor because both my Lee and the Graves do not have nor rely on that gauge. I want to get really good and pursue this creative passion full time. On a side note I am awaiting surgery on both my hands for carple tunnel syndrome so I am spending my time organizing my shop area and educating my self. A question I have is do you have an organization method you use for your rough? I really like your Aussie built machine by the way. Also I noticed how you have your laps stored for easy use. What are your shop practices before you actually start cutting? Thank you again for sharing your adventures in faceting and collecting rough here on KZfaq.

Uses super glue + baking soda tô instant cement, I learn this after losted hours use dop wax and the Stone brake. Try to put the finalized gem glued on a freezer, the mineral contract more than epoxy. I'm from Brazil, here no one have a Nice work on faceting like you have.

Yupp..worth a lots to see this citrine were faceted as per my previous choice..I chose this citrine because I really want to see this kind of faceted pattern final review..i think topaz will be more stunning with this pattern because topaz more hi-luster..but this citrine also really beautiful for it color..

That rough little turd of a rock turned out fabulous ! WOW ! The color really improved with your choice of cut. Keep up the good work & thanks for the tip on polishing the girdle first. I screwed up a tourmaline last week by polishing the girdle last. It chipped a corner. It is now in my "box of shame" lol Perhaps thumbs down trolly is a mineral specimen enthusiast ? Don't worry, trollolio ! We keep the specimens & cut the rest ; ^ )

I love watching your videos and you do amazing work. As much as I love the Semi-Portuguese and the Portuguese cut, I don't find this one as attractive. I will add that seeing it in your hand helped. Maybe if I saw it in person I could see it personality.

On the next big faceting project could you give the rose egg freeform diagram a try. Its found on the united states faceters guild website. Shape is freeform and its the second egg. Looks like a challenging project. But really interested in seeing it come to life.

It is, of course, very pretty, as all cut gemstones are, but I'm not entirely sure that this cut particularly suits this particular stone due to its lack of bright fire and relatively low color saturation. Regardless, that is incredibly impressive work, especially without the aid of a high-accuracy depth gauge. It'll definitely make a nice addition to your dragon's hoarde of miscellaneous cut gemstones that are too large to properly set into jewelry.

Looks fantastic. You mention that it was difficult to do? I can understand the number of facets would have been a challenge but what else. Is it getting the facets the same size by applying pressure on the gem during grinding?
