Cheers for the video, been having a leak for a while, swapped every vac hose lo and behold it was this. Will be swapping the o ring this week. Attempting the rocker cover seals this week for a roadworthiness check.

Another thank you for this, Long term fuel trims dropped from 12.5 to zero. Of course I did spark plugs ans wires while I was in there and kinda wish I'd done valve cover gaskets, but car runs bbetter than it has in a long time.

Does anyone hear run a transmission cooler in series or bypassing the radiator?

This assembly can be removed and blocked if you removed the secondary butterflies that are inside those ports. Those detective butterflies come loose and destroy motors. One reason why we see do few of these good vehicles. They did this to me on one 2003 and another I bought I removed them the first chance I got...sure enough there were loose screws and it likely would have destroyed the motor also. The butterflies aren't needed at all. No drivability issues or lights from them being removed on both of mine for years. If you have to wait to remove and reinstall the intake, because it will take you half a day to do the first time, you can cut that plunger shaft connecting to the intake, and then get good high temp sealant and slather it around the area with your pinky. Let it dry 24 hours and drive on until you get to removing the intake. Personally I don't take that thing off except when I have to.

What are the torque specs after replacing the intake

Okay I tried this O-ring then put everything together ran the Montero came back sprayed the aria again the engine started stalling so for some reason the O-ring isn't working on my Montero what do you think i did wrong?

Hi, I’m currently doing the same repair at the moment and would also like to replace the intake manifold gasket for hood measures but, I keep receiving the incorrect type. I was wondering if there’s a special part number via fel-pro. It’s for a 03 montero limited 3.8L

Is there a part number for the plastic piece or plug where the o ring goes into ?

Hey Owen, while trying to remove my plastic piece it snapped. it was incredible brittle and I tried to be as gentle as I could. the O-ring disintegrated as well. I put it all back together as best as I could but it does not start now. the leak is terrible. I was thinking of applying some kind of sealant around the area,.. what do you think?

What number of pieces (punches) did you use to remove the pin?

Just took my 2003 in for a diagnostic for p0171. They told me it’s probably an intake manifold tuning valve. Does that seem reasonable or would you think that this o-ring might be the root of the issue?

are you still around and how much do you know about monteros i have a gen 3 2002 3.5l v6 and i have error p0300 i think its the spark plugs because they have never been changed and i cant find any videos with good quality or any documents that show how to do so. I refuse to take this car to a shop

I've taken my Mitsubishi apart three times trying this O-ring and then sprayed carburetor cleaner and it's still bogging out has anyone succeeded if so maybe I'm doing something wrong I've lubricated the O-ring put it back together still leaking??????
