In certain play settings of D&D ( I believe it’s Ravnika), there is a Blood Circus, that makes its entertainment through the bloodiest and most dramatic/traumatic shows possible. Viewers who attend this circus are just as likely of getting killed as the performers…and that’s what The Boys and Gen V fills like to me. To that extent, so does Game of Thrones. They get their audience addicted by using visual trauma. You cant help but keep watching the train reck because you hope somehow there will be that moment where you see survivors get pooled from the wreckage, and they get to go home to their families. But this show poores gasoline on the fire and says “they were all deviants and murderers anyway”. I would honestly argue they could tell just as good if not an even better story than what they have without all the shock tactics. The story of “There’s no real good left in the world, everyone is a menacing animal, and all super heroes are depraved ‘Greek gods’ in television costumes” is utterly mentally and emotionally exhausting. I understand your guys reactions, the boys universe doesn’t make the journey fun.

The cut at the end immediately made me think of the ending of that Jake Gyllanhall movie, Enemy. Didn’t it cut to black when he saw the giant woman/spider crouched in the room? Due to my arachnophobia, I can’t look up a clip to confirm (I had a hard time getting through that movie. Would much rather see cocksplosions than spiders).

Wait, I have a show with someone who can control blood..." Or a woman who wanted to see someone get the deserved punishment for their behavior?
