@@Wherewereuloca Love right back at you! I love all my younger generations! You all inspire us and we as Gen X know the Boomers throw shade toward you the same way they throw shade towards us and that is because many of them (not all) refuse to or are unable to look at things through any different lense. I think it scares them and they have now blocked themselves in. Gen X is truly a sleeping giant and I am still and will always continue to shake things up. Love you guys! The youth is our hope!

@@Wherewereuloca let me tell you who gets on my nerves as a gen xer…the most. The stuck up rich boomers. I shouldn’t say rich cause it’s always the ones that have just a little extra money…as in…I dunno a couple hundred thousand in the bank at the most. Some boomers are cool but the people I swear that look at me sideways in public the most…are boomers.

I had the most amazing childhood -- truly. Great education, fine clothes, travel, every luxury, good morals, exposure to great cultural experiences, --BUT due to neglect and boomer attitude it left me w brain trauma/ damage for 17 years as an adult. I'm healed now but lost my scholarships and career due to it. I chose forgiveness, I keep the good and let go of the bad. Some genX kids had it much worse. My heart goes out to us, all and I believe the survivors- you didn't imagine it- it did damage you didn't deserve. We survived and today we can choose to thrive -and make the world a better place. The passion for life is still in me-- I'm just getting started since I missed so much, but those skills, common sense and drive are all still there. Grateful for the greatness of a generation like no other! Jn3:16.

Never even occurred to us how badly that could have turned out.... Tailgating 18-wheelers on dark roads with INCHES between our bumper and theirs.... Childhood fight clubs arranged by cousins. Playing "Kill the Man with the Ball" which was basically street football with no protective gear and no team... That's right! We saw the beginning of AIDS, the Crack epidemic, the fall of USSR, the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, and more that would have given these coddled snowflakes nightmares. But we also had the best music, we saw Michael Jackson in his prime before his life and career went downhill, we saw Prince when he was truly His Royal Badness, we saw Madonna when she was young and everyone talked about her clothing style and actions, the boomers mostly hated her, but we loved her, and quite a few of us dressed like her, too, we saw the rise and fall of Hair metal, the beginning of true Punk rock, not these crappy wanna be punk bands of today, we saw Axl Rose in his prime, Metallica from their beginning, Billy Joel in his prime, and many more great musicians and bands. We saw the beginning of MTV when it really was all music videos and not reality tv shows. We saw the start of rap and hip hop. We had Saturday morning cartoons, and many of those cartoons were pretty violent by today's standards, but they were far better than what kids are watching today. We didn't have a rating system for any tv shows back then either, and many of the tv shows were also pretty violent, and sexual, or hinted at sex. Our movies were also much better than the woke garbage being made today. Movie studios didn't shy away from violence or sex, or even horror. We got to see Robocop, The Terminator, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and many more. Unfortunately we also so the beginning of Political Correctness which has gone too far. We also got bullied and called names and simply shrugged it off and kept going, we didn't cry to the whole world about how unloved we were and how unfair life was. If we fell we just got back up, and kept going. In short we had the best music, tv shows/ cartoons, and movies. I think what's really going on with Gen Z is they're jealous because their music, tv shows/cartoons, and movies are woke garbage, they are forced to be careful about what they say or else risk offending someone, and they don't have the freedom to move around without care like we did. they were, and still are, coddled snowflakes too afraid of their own shadows, hiding on the internet instead of going outside and hanging out with real people. It kind of makes me wonder what they will be like when they get to our age or the Boomers.

You know how I know gen x is actually worthless? Because you all started complaining after you started to experience the struggles of the world. You claim to be traumatized by my gen x mother didnt feed me, didnt interact with me, didnt ever acquire a non used mattress for me, blamed me for not being able to self guide myself as a child into an adult, i ended up accepting the blame and punish for my mothers hatred towards men with trauma started from being raped as a child. She spent my entire life on this hate train. Thats all gen x is capable of. You've never stood for anything outside yourself. The boomers took the wealth and you took job stability. You joined boomers in trashy millennials before gen z turned their heads for a world they were born in. The country has been in decline on your watch, and now you all complain because most of you weren't smart enough to actually take advantage of the economy you were born into. Now gen x and boomers live for the sole purpose of blaming their short comings on the generations that came after them as if they had an agenda from before the womb. Thanks to your generation's guidance in politics education has been on a constant drastic decline. And you blame that on the kids too. Its like gen x cant accept its accountability of its failure, huh just like my mother. Remember you never had anything worth saying for the last 20 years. But now that you're all struggling like the rest of us you're just doing boomer things and blaming your children.

What these spoiled Gen Z fail to remember is that Gen X were the people who grew up when Communism was still a thing, when wars of independence from colonial powers were still going on and we are the ones who as older teens and young adults saw the wall fall, saw South Africa end apartheid. We were the ones who lived through and fought in the Balken wars, stood on the wall in Berlin partying, endured the wars in Central and South America, Africa, the ones who ended the trade in blood diamonds, grew up watching the war in Vietnam on TV. They do not want any of that heat, we were the generation that ended Communism, and the wars that had raged for 40 years that the boomers could not.

When you look back and consider who held the actual reins of power at the "end of communism", it was primarily by the G.I. generation and some of the Silent Generation. Not even we of the Baby Boomer generation can take much actual credit for that.

As a Gen Xer, I'm so tired of listening to this inter-generational bs. It's been 20 years. Boomers, amiright? Kids, amiright? FFS. The jokes and stereotypes are old and tired. Are we done yet? It's just inane yammering at this point. Having said that, I do feel like maybe Gen X should get into it because this 'tell people what they want to hear and don't offend anyone' world we're in is such utter bs. No one is real anymore. No one is honest with anyone. No one can have a real conversation. Kindness is not telling people what they want to hear so they can stay locked away in their own reality and drown there. Kindness is telling people the truth so they can live in the real world. Maybe Gen X should all come together and just bring back honesty for the entire month of July. If nothing else, it'd be highly amusing. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Who else would Gen Z need to hold accountable for the world if not all previous generations which created it?? I call that common sense. You address the root of the problem. Also, anyone acting like being a latch key kid is generational is blind to the fact that it is an intergenerational experience based on family systems & socioeconomic status. Gen X raised most of Gen Z, so what exactly would we need to hide hands from? It's directly @ing the problem. As a Gen Z, I spend most of my time helping all previous and future (Gen Alpha) generations address the problems created by all generations prior to mine. I've even had to date you or give you dating advice b/c of your poor social skills & viewing me as having more wisdom. The only good advice I get is from Gen Z. My own problems were due to the negligence and greed of Gen X narcissists. To label holding someone accountable as "obsession" is ridiculously deflective. Think about the generations of 90% of the people who hold world power & economic influence. They sure aren't Gen Z and Alpha. It's baffling the amount of older adults I have dealt with professionally and personally who want to be so unaccountable. If you are a shit person, work on it. If not, why complain instead of address your peers. If you know your collective social group has shit ways, acknowledge it. Gen Z is literally making itself political protestors at the cost of an already shit future (just like some previous generations actually organized). The world is only getting more dehumanizing, Gen Z & Alpha have more expensive costs of living with most mobility efforts being systematically fruitless for lasting wealth, we deal with militarized police, even less capable political leaders, and our training & degrees mean nothing despite being even more expensive to pursue. We have lived through multiple social & economic crisis to still be treated like we add nothing to society. We also deal with childish & unaccountable previous generations who abuse power. I don't see that as throwing rocks and hiding hands. I am a community organizer who is piss poor, a caretaker for previous Gens, & doing something about our intersectional issues with truly what little I have. I'm sure that is somehow creating problems for you.

As a Gen X, imagine coming after our grandparents who fought WW2 and built the world we were living in for us. And then we start to explain to them how life works and how their experience, existence and legacy are irrelevant... while still enjoying and taking for granted all the perks of the world they passed on to us and while they were still running the economy and paying for our stuffs! We created such a safe world for these new kids that they can call out their elders with that tone without even considering a reaction. Especially in some of their comment sections. We wouldn't have dreamt of approaching the elders like that for the sake of our survival. Thanks to genx who stopped or reduced the repetition of Generational trauma, now kids can be safe while being jerks. The level of self-centred entitlement, ignorance, and arrogance of these social media generational division trends have reached unprecedented heights. Some of us had older Gen X parents (some in their young 20's at the time) Siblings or friends, and friends siblings in that Gen... since we were close in age and grew up together with similar cultural icons and household objects, staying out until the street lights came on. Physical fights were pretty commonplace, but we said nothing unless we were physically dying. Didn't want to be seen as weak. Plus, we are pretty versed in both older and newer versions of tech. I’m silent generation, and my daughter is Gen X. After my divorce I had to work overtime most days. Thankfully my parents were alive so she stayed with them. I use the term stay loosely because she was never in the house. She and her friends were the epitome of moving in silence. So nice and respectful of their elders but I’m learning now that she was a bit of a thug. She never started a fight but she somehow always ended them. I found out later that her friends called her “the finisher”. Even now, she’s the sweetest person, but if you stray out of your lane she will deliver a verbal headshot. You have to push her but if you insult her or try to hurt feelings she won’t go back and forth, she’ll just say the worst most personal thing she knows about you and end it. I have been so embarrassed by some of the things she’s said, and told her I thought she went too far. Her response was “they shouldn’t have come for me. Headshots only”. I love her but she’s savage. She has no compunction about eviserating someone she sees as a threat to her peace. Please leave those hooligans alone lol.

Gen-Xer here. What'd we ever do to anyone to deserve this? We were the Baby Bust generation and had to live in the shadow of the massive Boomer generation who were the original "Me Generation" and who were so self-involved, we were barely barely parented. So here is my story I’m a millennial raised by Gen Xers and when I was in grade school, I had a couple brothers that followed me home and beat me up regularly at first I didn’t tell my parents about it but they realized when bruises started appearing. I’d come home disheveled and crying bleeding, my father tried to speak to the school first and this is how he met the boys and their parent when it became clear that no one was going to do anything he had me tell him where they lived and went to their house, beat the shit out of their father in front of the boys and promised to come back if they ever messed with me again. Those boys crossed the street when walking by and never even looked at me again.

"we were sent out with weapons" OMG, SO TRUE!! Not fake weapons either. I have a picture of my little brother, maybe he was 4, getting his first rifle on Christmas. Standing there in his little blue robe, smiling from ear to ear and posing for our so proud parents. I honestly didn't realize that there was "Gen X stuff" until all these videos came out. Everytime I watch one it is a flashback without acid -lol (obviously older gen x here). We just "were". We just "did". As long as no one called your parents, nobody cared. When I was 5, I was out with the kids, riding on the back fender of an older kids bike, not wearing shoes cause we didn't, going down a hill AND my foot slipped into the wheel spokes. The bike flipped. I was laying on the gound with the bike wheel wrapped around my leg and spokes poking through my foot. There was no 911. The oldest (and fastest rider) rode back to the neighborhood, told the parents (who were all smashed and now pissed because they had to get up) what happened. My dad grabbed a pillow to keep the blood from getting all over the seats in the car. My uncle grabbed some bolt cutters and off they went. I'd been laying there for 30+ minutes before help arrived. The kid whose bike "I just wrecked" had woken up. Yes, he was knocked out, but as he wasn't bleeding, he was left "to shake it off". I was extracted from the wreckage with the bolt cutters, my foot, spokes and all were put on the pillow, and I was put in the backseat if the car - a convertible, my dad didn't even put the top up and no there were no seatbelts either. The blood was flying, likely landing on the cars passing. My dad drove THE 30 MINUTES to the next town where THE hospital was. The mom's went back to drinking and getting the dinner ready. The kids went back to playing. After I got out if surgery, I went home. No hanging out in hospital (too expensive and since my injuries weren't life threatening my dad was not going to waste money). When I got back home all the kids shared their version of the bloody mess and I shared all the gruesome details of having the spokes removed and my heel being reattached. I started school a few weeks later on crutches and hopping around. We didn't miss school! Our parents had enough of us over the summer. So, my message to Gen Z is the same as the others. Don't try it. Don't even think it. We survived our childhoods and we don't want to hear you crying. We learned this little phrase from our dads and it seems appropriate now: "I'll give you something to cry about." 🤣

Younger Gen X here. Three of my siblings owe me their lives (all Millennials who I never let forget it, lol): One almost drowned because the adults and lifeguard were doing God-knows-what at the beach (I saved him when I was 8 even though I couldn't swim either). One was a toddler who climbed out a window and toddled to the angled-corner edge, nearly falling three stories (I was 10 and did the jumper grab-and-scoot back to safety). One almost got flung off a carnival ride so I held onto him with a death grip until the ride was over and the carny just shrugged when I told him (I was 13). I almost died at least ten times before puberty. Concussions were like collecting credits on a punch card.

Idk GenX is a feral generation, Their parents were not watching them, they had all types of mental health problems and no help. I would not wake up a sleeping Bear called GenX. The Generation of latch key kids, not helmets, no seat belts, no car seats, no SPF, As previously mentioned, the typical family started to look a little different when Generation X came around-namely, more working mothers and higher divorce rates. This in turn led to more latchkey kids (i.e., children hanging out at home without grown-up supervision after school until a parent came back from work). For these reasons, self-reliance, plus a corresponding ability to stay above the fray. I’ll always stand up for GenX. Wow a lot of you hate GenX🤣🤣 About to write a whole novel.
