Well you're not going to do it with crispr basically it's not really feasible right now. The virus vectors used that integrate into the genome don't allow or support big enough sizes for full useful gene expressions. We could do short term by different means sure there are already people who do. But it's only going to last a short time and then your body is going to dispose of the cells expressing foreign genes.

They are already working on gene 🧬 editing and hope to be able to do this and get it approved by 2025-26. Right now what holds it back it ethically it is considered wrong because it will be super expensive and available to the elite first which will create a bigger divide

Ah it's not actually as cool as you might think it's going to be a give and take scenario. We took thousands of years to balance our genome. You start adding different proteins gene pathways and there will be unforeseen consequences.

We're not even going to take into account how you transfect the cells let's just assume we can. You want an example take follistatin it's reverse analog is myostatin. Bodybuilders have been obsessed with this because it plays a large role in muscle growth regulation. On one hand you can increase expression of follistatin which in feedback increases myostatin it's opposite. You can suppress myostatin and increase follistatin but then you run into downstream disregulation of several other genes that affect muscle cell differentiation. So now you have cancer. That's just one gene now imagine some significant change and the amount of genes responsible.

Id use gene editing to make society ab elective and not a requirement for survival, comfort and advancement. The individual is a society and can choose to be isolated or group up. It wouldn't make a difference in your lifestyle. Id make myself superhuman. Lack of a better word. So I literally can survive independently from other humans. Id have to master space travel. Warp drive or webway gate or 3rd thing; in order to protect my sovereignty.

Thinking about future super humans. The adoption of gene modification therapies will depend upon the cost of the gene engineering. Hope that the popular opinion will compel Governments and companies to make it affordable to the common people. It is possible that the overwhelming population will go for it. Still the companies make huge profit out of it. It is possible that the future Transhuman technologies may render the such gene therapies secondary class, perhaps humans will upload their consciousness into the cloud. However it is impossible that corporation mass producing genetically engineered human as their work force mainly due to the prevailing human ethics.

I don’t think the people editing human genomes are using it to make perfect humans. I think they’re just seeing what they can do. The motives aren’t malevolent. Unfortunately, only the wildly wealthy will be able to afford the benefits of this technology if it were made public.

It doesn't quite work like that the body resists change and gene pathways settle and adjust to survive. Think of it like a water purification plant as time goes on the pipes and valves age but are needed to keep water flowing. Just switching on the original flow rate is going to cause things to break. And otherwise your body is going to be completely dis regulated. Senescence is good you want cells to die and genes to express evenly otherwise you get cancer.
