What a great tutorial. Straight to the point, no fluff. Thank you. I've been using this method with content aware fill and mocha pro since 2020 where I first started to dabble with vfx during the lockdown for my first feature film. Generative fill makes it so much easier and you showed how perfectly. One advice I can give would be to also play with levels besides lumetri and add some camera lens blur for a more realistic depth of field. Liked and subscribed 🤜

Great video. What about film noise/grain on the added objects? It's difficult to see if it's noticeable on KZfaq but you would definitely see when viewed on a 40' screen the added elements don't have active noise/grain that the live footage will have? Any thoughts?

Is there a way, or going to be a way of making all the generated subjects move in some way.. ?
@martinbue
@martinbue 4 ай бұрын
hi, it really depends on the movement you are looking for. Simple x, y movement (no perspective change) can easily be achieved by adding a null, connect the object and animate with keyframes. More dynamic movement is not possible with this setup, but some AI software like Runway and Pika Studio, can add a little bit of movement, but wont be able to match it to the scene.
@SelfcareSofie
@SelfcareSofie 4 ай бұрын
@@martinbue hi, thank you for your response, say you green screened some images, like I could do that in procreate, then use runway and then pop it in after effects with the footage, would that work?
@martinbue
@martinbue 4 ай бұрын
@@SelfcareSofie I've never tried that, but it should work. You might need to mask out the footage a bit and play with some curves to match the footage

You can always create a stationary contrast object with the generative fill, place it in the scene and then track that. If the moving object is interluding with your object then you can delete it with content aware fill or just create another clean plate like he did in the beginning of the video then build upon that. There's like endless solutions for these kind of problems.

This is nothing new or groudbreaking. It was done for ages like set extension, matte painting. This so called AI method has only one difference. Instead of searching in google for the right grass asset or building you can search and apply directly in the editing app.

Not really. AI does all the work of creating the images to be automatically blended into their surroundings taking into account perspective, distance, color, ect. and it looks legitimate. It takes a lot of time and fine tuning to do all of that by hand. If anyone’s ever tired to do it by hand before, they’ll understand.
