The 2024 Genesis GV80 is a premium large SUV that you probably don't see a lot of on Australian roads. Instead, Audi Q7s and Volvo XC90s are a more common sight. To be fair, though, those two models have been on sale for a lot longer than the South Korean, which has only been around for a few years.
Either way, the GV80 is yet to have the sales success of the segment leaders, but that's not through lack of trying. You see, it's actually quite an accomplished three-row family car, as CarsGuide Senior Journalist Richard Berry has found out over the course of his three months testing its 3.5T Luxury variant.
In this expert review, he shares what's he liked and what he hasn't during his long-term test of the GV80 3.5T Luxury. Specifically, he'll detail pricing, features, practicality, safety and fuel efficiency as well as deliver his all-important driving impressions, all before the facelifted model arrives next year.

Not a bad review but unfortunately no mention of the 3 litre diesel variant (which I own). Took it from Sydney to Port Macquarie and back today for a funeral. 762km total distance, 60 litres (exactly) consumed, 7.87 litres per hundred km. $15.35 fuel cost per hundred km. To travel in great comfort, safety and style I think that's pretty good. Couldn't do that in an EV in a 1 day tour.

I was just thinking the same thing & agree wholeheartedly. A turbo diesel engine is the perfect match for such a large & heavy vehicle. Being far superior in fuel efficiency & offering much more torque down low where needed. Furthermore, diesel engines are over engineered & much more robust compared to petrol engines. One would have to be a complete moron to opt for the petrol engine.
