I had been wanting to try going to Dover on a Thursday morning again for some time, and I decided to give it a go this week. Unfortunately, the weather turned out to be much worse than I thought. Not only did it rain for most of the day, but it was also very windy, making it much colder than I anticipated. I was able to get some good catches, including a Multilevel set on Train 1074 and GP40PH-2 4112 pulling RP-2, but a poorly timed walk around the block caused me to miss out on seeing a ballast train shoving out of the yard and heading east.
1: Train 808 pulls in with Comet V Cab Car 6023 leading the way while Train 607 reverses to clear the South Morris Street crossing after terminating. ALP-45DP 4518, the Armed Forces banner unit, brings up the rear, switching to electric power before departing.
2: ALP-46 4623 rests in the station on the west end of 607's set.
3: Train 609 pulls in and terminates with ALP-45A 4554 on the point. Cab Car 6048 is at the end.
4: Train 6624 departs with Cab Car 6065 leading the way. Trailing is ALP-46 4623.
5: Train 626 pulls in with Cab Car 6048 leading the way. ALP-45A 4554 is trailing.
6: Train 6607 arrives and terminates with Cab Car 6015 leading the way. ALP-45DP 4531 is at the end. After discharging its passengers, the train pulls up a bit to clear the South Morris Street crossing.
7: Train 1074 makes its stop with Multilevel II Cab Car 7060 in charge, running 4 minutes late. ALP-45DP 4529 is at the end.
8: Train 6628 departs with ALP-45DP 4531 leading the way. Cab Car 6015 is trailing.
9: Train 6611 crawls in and terminates with Multilevel Cab Car 7037 leading the way, running 4 minutes behind schedule. Trailing is ALP-46A 4664.
10: ALP-46 4620 pulls Train 6613 into the station 3 minutes early. Dover and Delaware River RP-2 passes through at the same time on Track 1 with NJT GP40PH-2 4112 and GP38-2 5304 on the point, pulling 4 cars east. Cab Car 6076 is at the end of 6613.
11: Train 6617 arrives on Track 1 4 minutes early with Cab Car 7035 leading the way. ALP-46A 4662 is trailing. Train 6632 can be seen departing at the same time with ALP-46 4620 at the end.
12: ALP-46A 4662 pulls Train 6636 into the station. As it takes on passengers, Train 851 arrives with PL42AC 4015 in charge. Cab Car 6041 is at the end of 851, and Cab Car 7035 brings up the rear of 6636.
13: A hy-rail truck crosses South Morris Street and scoots through the station heading east on Track 1.
14: Train 6619 pulls in and terminates with Cab Car 6033 leading the way, running 5 minues late. ALP-46A 4629 is at the end.
15: X667 crosses South Morris Street and switches over to Track 2 with ALP-45A 4549 leading the way. Cab Car 6052 is trailing. After waiting for Train 6640 to depart, X667 crosses Orchard Street and heads for the yard. Excuse my coughing fit here.
