I was once told by a song writer that you need to write a 100 mediocre songs before you’re able to write 1 great one. I’m sure you’d be perfectly capable of writing lyrics just as good as Hozier lyrics if that’s something you want to do. You just gotta practice and be dedicated and you’ll get there. There’s no hurry, just because one person achieved something at a certain age does not make you less valid for taking longer to get there. Don’t rush or stress about slow progress, we all take the time we need.

as an Iranian woman, it means a lot to me that he mentioned last year's protests and that he supported us through his platform back then. and even though we are still struggling and fighting for freedom(not just for the right not to wear hijab but for many other basic human rights) this kind of support even if it doesn't do much for us its still very heartwarming.thank you Andrew.

I am also an Iranian woman and I 100% agree with you that it made me so happy to see and I really appreciate it, but I would argue that it does do a lot because many people don't know about the protests, so having someone with such a large platform talk about it and talk about it in such a positive way, is really helpful because it educates people on the topic

as an Iranian this song is as relatable as it can get for me. it breaks my heart everytime I hear it 😞 a warning to rest of the world: we lost our country, our people, our culture and our human rights to organized religions. don't do the same to your countries, don't..

It is indeed.. while I am a religious person myself, there are indeed too many people who have been hurt by religious organizations. I would say though, that religion and spirituality provide the most depth and honesty about our humanity. I hope that you and many others may be welcome in a spiritual community that accepts you as you are. As your honest, open self

I've been a fan of hozier and loved this song for a long time but as an Iranian woman "take me to church" hits so different now since it was used as an anthem for protesters to express their frustration with the islamic republic. This guy is such an underrated artist, this song really blew up but he has so many other incredible songs which I feel are not given enough credit. This guy is a rare breed, a true artist to his core creating masterpieces from deep rooted passion & talent.

As a Christian woman, this song resonates so much with me. I know the abuses the church has set on other people and I'm glad that it's finally being acknowledged. The rawness of this song beautifully portrays true love and religion in the same sense.

Imagine going to church your whole life just to let some sinner demon make a song sound nice and change your mind 😂 youre actually a joke. Its like eve biting the apple. & stop calling yourself the Big C cause you’re obviously not supportive

Hozier albums keep lining up perfectly with different stages of my life. If in 30 years this man is not considered a classic Irish poet i will be very mad. So happy to have been on this Hozier wave since the beginning, can't wait to see him again in Dublin in December❤️

This song is a masterpiece! I remember when I first read the lyrics I was shook to the core of my being because I felt seen and accepted with all my moral and spiritual values. Yhe fact that a man truly felt and thought like that gave me a sense of reassurance and empowerment when I was criticized by men for wanting more and not settling for what they offered. It's been 10 years since the song came out and I still can't express in words properly how important and powerful this song is to me. ☺️ Thank you from the bottom of my soul for this song Hozier! 🙏🏻

I can honestly say 10 years ago at 21 this song definitely felt too heavy for me. In the sense that I often listen to music to escape and keep it light and fun. Hearing it now at 31, becoming a mother, living more life, wow, I am in awe of it.

I was just starting to question my sexuality when this song and music video came out. I remember sobbing in my room to this video and listening to it over and over. Somehow it’s one of those songs that no matter how many times I hear it, I don’t get tired of it for a minute like other popular songs. Also obviously if you haven’t yet, check out his other albums. I especially like Nina Cried Power and All Things End (and the music vids are so good too)
