It sells for around $1,200, and it is well worth the dough! This is not some cheap piece of junk that's going to break down after three gigs. I use mine on virtually every gig, and it totally rocks, I get any tone I want from it. They now have the 12" extension cab too.

I've never had the chance to spend a lot of time with the MB stuff. I played through one once and liked some of the features, but I couldn't give you a real evaluation of the quality. I have however been playing on the Genz Shuttle rig consistently for well over a year now and have never had any problems, it always sounds great, and is always a joy on the load out.

I have the Neo Pak 3.5 All the same tone design as the shuttle and I love it. I use it on most gigs Even used it thorugh an Ampeg 8X10 one evening. Typically I use the Neo Pak with a Neo 2X12 cab . Love it. Only regreat is that the shuttle come out shortly after.

It prevents degradation or loss of signal due to a failure or bad connection in your effects chain. It can also allow for adjusting the overall level of effects in your sound.

It has a tube driven preamp, the power amp is Class D - digital amp. That's why it's so light.
@BassWhispererTV

Not sure what a Db dropoff is... but it handles the low B just fine. It is designed with a low frequency rolloff which gives you better power efficiency and more clarity in the low range. It is not a sub-bass rig - it's a well-focused, portable gig amp.

@mikeymacaque - I've used the Shuttle 6.0/12t for 90% of my gigs for the last 2 1/2 years, and I've never been disappointed. I obviously have a personal preference for them, but that is not to say the others are bad, I just don't use them.
@BassWhispererTV

It does get a nice tube driven tone, I don't use it much myself, but I do work the tube gain for coloration sometimes. This amp rocks, I use it on every gig now.

Well, the Warwick fretless 4 I purchased back in January was the first non-Fender instrument I purchased in over 20 years. My first bass back in the early-80's was a Hondo II P bass copy. I primarily played guitar in the 80's and my guitars were mostly strats of various stripes with the exception of a 1959 Gretsch Tennessean (not sure if I spelled that right), which I traded a Firebird reverse for. There was also a Washburn Shadow solidbody classical style guitar.

Hi ! Terrific rig you have ! Would you have any idea where those can still be purchased ?
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 14 жыл бұрын
@MajorImpact - Yes, it also helps on concrete. Low frequencies can couple with any floor, not in the same way - but the Gramma still helps. I won't play without it. I've had mine for ... 7 years maybe? Ever since they first came out, and I've never, and I mean NEVER played a gig with my own gear without it.

Man that amp sounded great when you were using the pic. Geez, you could get a great 'Tool' kind of tone out of this amp!!
@Spaghettaboutit
@Spaghettaboutit 16 жыл бұрын
Justin Chancellor uses two ~1,000 watt solid state amps that each go into a cab that has two 12" speakers and a tweeter...it's not a tube amp by anymeans....a tone amp yes, but most his sound comes from the EQing that his Wal pickups do, and the amp just does a really good job at keeping that low end while still having very nice high mids.
@Terrible_Peril
@Terrible_Peril 15 жыл бұрын
more power means more headroom, which means the possibilities of dynamics and sounds are expanded. that's always a good thing. the trouble is that people use the higher output amps strictly for more volume. i read an interesting article on the mixing of CD audio recently. basically most CDs made after 1990ish in the US, the volume is pushed passed the limit and then snipped so the whole mix is ruined in terms of dynamics. and it makes a difference in the overall sound.
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 14 жыл бұрын
@BurnToFade - Yeah, I like the tube pre, and the extra power is always nice to have.
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 15 жыл бұрын
No, in fact they built an extra 6dB of headroom into the clip light. When it goes off, you still have plenty of room, it's sort of a soft limiting function. This amp rounds off the edge more like a tube amp, not like many digital amps.
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 14 жыл бұрын
@idigcars - It might, depends on how thick the rug is, but the idea is good. Check out the GRAMMA by Auralex, it's a foam pad that costs about $60, but it's worth every penny. It isolates the cab from the floor and greatly reduces the low frequencies from "coupling" with the room. Tighter bottom, better clarity - I never, and I mean - never play a gig without it.

Well, I did test out the Phil Jones amps with my upright. You can see the videos on the Bassguitarmag channel. However, I will say that the Shuttle sounds exceptional with upright, it's my main rig for all my gigs.

@mikeymacaque - The GK MB 112, which is the closest in size to the Genz is only 200 watts, the Genz is 375 or 600 (with extension cab). That's a big difference for gigging. GK has it's own tone, a signature sound, if you like it - that's a good thing. Genz is more neutral, it imparts less coloration on your tone. The LMII has some cool features, and many people like them too. It's got more power than the GK. They are tuned for lower freq. response than the Genz, but I think the Genz is tighter.

Well, I think you need something bigger than that for metal and hard rock, at least 600 watts. Look at the Genz Benz GBE 750 and Uber Bass 212 cab. Ashdown makes nice stuff too.

Dude!! You're a night owl too!? I took a look at your website, and saw that you're a fellow Texan. Austin's a cool town-- I have relatives there. I'm from the Houston/Galveston area myself-- currently living on my sailboat- hence the purchase of the Genz-Benz 6.0 12T. May give you a shout sometime via email on what led me to play bass and the songs that inspired me as well. @Musicman20UK - I have not heard anything regarding updates, GB does not talk about what they have in development - they tend to wait until the product is ready to ship to make announcements. But I'll say this - I am still playing out of this exact amp you see in this video. I've had it since January 08, I've played the hell out of it, and it still sounds great and works reliably. Don't wait, get one of these.

@emerican10 - Yes, it will put 600 watts into your 810. I know it seems strange to have such a light amp on a heavy cab, but it's still 30 or more lbs. you don't have to carry. Next, get yourself a lighter cab!
@BassWhispererTV
@BassWhispererTV 13 жыл бұрын
@seba330 - Sure, I use it all the time, of course I'm not playing metal... If I need more coverage, I add the Genz Shuttle 12" extension cab.

I think it would do just fine. I use it to power my 212 cab and it's huge. You get 375 at 8 ohms, and 600 at 4ohms.
@MojoMan_69
@MojoMan_69 16 жыл бұрын
I believe it runs around $1100 US. It's only 375 watts @ 8 ohms, add a second 12 inch cab and it'll give you the full 600 watts at 4 ohms.

The 3.0/10 is a great little amp. It obviously has less power and speaker coverage than the bigger one, but it is surprisingly loud and full. It can handle a low B quite well, but of course you can't get stupid with it. With the matching 10t extension cab, it can handle moderate gig level with drums and guitars, just don't try to play Metal with it.

Please try one of them Ibanez Promethean with any setup it´s available. I checked the 2x10'' - Combo as well, but I decidet to buy the 1x10'' - because of it´s weight. With the built in 10'' - speaker You will have 250 watt - enough for every little gig or practising! On smaler gigs I use it with a 2x10'' Peavey 210TVX EX - nice! Real awesome, what power comes out of that little 500 Watt-amp with this cabinet! My guitarist felt his trousers like flattering.. Now I sit here, watch you and play.

8x10 cabs are so rarely actually NEEDED. either have the band turn it down a bit or run to the PA via mic or DI and stop compensating- says i. i play through a pjb flightcase most of the time, though. never needed a whole lot more. but if it can't be done with a 4x10 or equivalent, something's wrong.

@RLHubner - Well, you can get a more hifi tone with the filters, it will never sound like GK though. GK is GK, Genz is Genz. Will it cover your needs? I have no way of knowing that, but i use this amp 90% of the time. If I need to get loud, I add the extension cab.

I'm undecided between the shuttle 6 and the GBE 750. I love the portability and "cuteness" of the shuttle, but I'm not actually too fussed about portability. I'm attracted to the extra features of the GBE750. What's your recommendation? I'm going to mate it to a GK neo 212 cab

i'm not entirely sure what the correct term would be for what happens to CD audio... limited seems to fit pretty accurately, but i'm not as boned up on my audiophile terms as i once was... a drastic reduction in funds will do that! haha :) i'll try to find the article and PM it or reply to your comment and get it to you if you like. also, try a search for 'coat hanger audio cable blind test' or similar terms. luckily, i make my own instrument/audio cables nine times out of ten.

@BassGuitarMag Would I be able to get this amp to sound more Hi Fi like the GKs? Also, I have a 500 watts 212GK combo and it has enough power for me but, I wonder if a 112 combo would suffice my needs. I was taking a look at the Markbass amps but I can't get through my head that only one speaker can fill an average room with bass. Nice amp but I'm old fashioned. I prefer the deep full sound that I get from a 15" speaker. I actually prefer the sound of my less expensive Ampeg BA115 better but it's a personal thing. I also don't want anything with tubes because of reliability issues and I don't like distortion even from tubes.
