@mcatueno - That is your choice really. I prefer not to be locked in to a particular signature tone. Between different bass choices, eq, the tube gain, my hands, and if needed - pedals, I can get any type of sound I want out of the Genz. If I were using something like an Ampeg, it would always sound like Ampeg. That's not necessarily bad if all you want is that sound... but I like the flexibility of having choices.

Hell yes. I use this exact rig 80% of the time for any gig, any style. It's rare I'll need more, but when I do, I've got bigger GB cabs and a Shttlemax 9.2 to use. Why do I use this rig? It's light, easy to carry... and - you heard it. It sounds great.

Ed, tremendous playing, you are a great idol for a young bassist like me. :)

@Vizillar2505 - It's 600 watts into both cabs, 375 into one of them. The 9.2 head is 900 into both, 500 into one.

Yes, in fact the new X2 cabs are using drivers from the new supplier... I would guess they have been reconfigured a bit to match with the larger cabs, but they are similar in terms of being beefier and more aggressive. I'l review one soon.

@henry12350 - This was a work for hire by Genz Benz. Bass Player is not paying me to do video. So sadly, that means the frequency of the videos depends solely on when I get a contract. I do have another client in line for another one within the next week or so.... So, there will be something new coming down the tube soon.

@lasteffect - No, I don't demo my own stuff, but I'll use when I can.

The combo is fine by itself for electric or upright. In fact, I rarely use the extension cab for upright.

@abiromeroramirez - Microphone? Or do you mean pickup? Mics are great for studio recording, or for sending your sound to the house sound board, but can be very tricky for live amplification. I'm using a Rode NT2a mic on the amp, and on my bass I have a David Gage Realist pickup. I do sometimes use a Crown PG200 mic on my bass and feed it with the pickup into a Fishman Pocket Bass Blender, but you have to be careful with volume as it will feedback if too loud.

It sounds amazingly great! I started to check shops in my country but no 6.2 yet, also price for older versions seems quite nice, I'm curious how it will look like for new versions.

Hi Ed, thanks for another great video. I'm currently using a Gallien Kreuger MB150S as a portable amp, but I don't love the sound of it (especially at higher volumes). I was thinking about getting a 9.2 combo or a Markbass Mini CMD 121P, but I don't have a shop near me that stocks the Genz Benz. Have you had any experience with the Markbass? If so, how is the Genz Benz in comparison? Thanks from an Irish man with a bad back!

Hey Ed, i don't know if you just review newly released gear but i would love to see a review from any Acoustic amp. I myself have an Acoustic B100 amp and i think it's pretty decent, but i am not as experienced as you are and i'd be interested in hearing your opinion on it or some of it's higher end brothers. Ed, I'm always interested in amps that allow to swith from electric to upright bass. Unfortunately most of the input stages seem to "castrate" the sound of the piezo pickups, with Phil Jones amps being the only exception I have had my hands on so far. How do the Genz Benz amps handle that issue? It's too hard to really judge a sound sample via youtube ... Thanks a lot for your work, it's really fun and information for me.

@jheremhiya44 - EMG makes 6-string pickups, not like the exposed pole JVX, but they sound like what you describe.

Hi Ed! you have mentioned in other videos that Genz Benz is really transparent and what you plug in is what you get. Could that be a negative feature for someone(like me) who has a normal bass and plays in a Prog Rock band? anyway, for what i hear this sounds awesome!

@kawi9893 - Eden has a bit more of a signature tone. It's more scooped than Genz.

hi Ed, im looking for a modern sounding pickups (more of EMG JVX Pickups) but for 6string bass.. a pickup with low punch but more clarity.. single coils will do but im open to check some soapbars too..

@klabrx - See my upright bass edition of the demo. It works great. I've used the 6.0 as my upright amp for 4 years.

My initial concern with using the 9.2 or 9.0 would be speaker failure. Have they recently increased the power handling on these cabs?

I play electric and upright. Would the combo be enough or woud the upright be to much without and ext cab?

@Yenasty5 - I only demo gear I get paid to demo. If Acoustic approaches me, I might do it, but that seems unlikely.

They don't make a 9.2 combo, just the 6.2. I have used the 9.2 head with the combo though, it works fine, just have to be careful. I think the Shuttle combo outperforms all the other amps in it's size/weight/power class. It can get louder without distortion, and delivers more oomph. The tone is a matter of preference - I find the Genz is more neutral than others. But if you like the GK or MB tone personality, that's your choice.

@mcatueno - That's why they invented pedals!

@MrSleazymoney - Well, maybe they'll send one of those too.

@mcatueno What would be better would be to get what you want. If you want a good, clean representation of your bass, this amp sounds like just the ticket. If you want an amp with its own signature tone...get one of those! Try lots of amps if you can, then buy the one you want!

@sratas - That is a '74 Fender Jazz with a J-Retro preamp and Badass II bridge. Stock pickups. Compare GB and MB? I suggest you listen to demos of both and draw your own conclusion.

@joaomuas11 - You can find the price using Google. I don't know the band you're referring to, or the player... and I haven't tried all the other amps you've mentioned. And... I don't tell people what to buy, I simply show you the gear I get paid to demo. I will not take responsibility for what needs to be a personal decision. If you buy what I tell you, and you don't like it - it's MY fault right? I believe in letting people make their own choices.
