2022 Dacia Jogger Review - 200 mile 'real world' test drive and verdict

I borrowed a Dacia Jogger from Startin Dacia Worcester, and instead of taking it on a wild test drive adventure... I just used it to do some real world chores.
So after delivering a set of Volvo wheels to Nottingham and spending the entire day in the car during a heatwave, what was my verdict...? Watch the video to find out.
Also features a little bit of shouting at the sat nav and some career suggestions for little known KZfaqrs Matt Watson from carwow and a chap called Ozzy Man Reviews. Enjoy. #GeoffBuysCars #BuyingCars #SellingCars #CarReview

The stereo control stalk in the Jogger is straight out of a 1980's Renault Espace. Not a bad thing. Of all the things that went wrong in my two old Espaces, the stereo stalk in both still worked.😉

Great review. I'm currently on my 4th Dacia Duster and love their cars. Recently, I flirted with a Peugeot 3008 - which was nice, I suppose, but a victim of the over-design you talk about here. The difference between the Dacia and the Land Rover is a bit like the difference between a Bic biro and a Montblanc. Draw a line on a page with both and then just show someone the page and ask them to tell you which line was drawn with the Montblanc. Really appreciate how real world your reviews are.

Really enjoyed this review and thankful you didn’t go into details like bootsize in litres, more of a real world review than I think Matt Watson gives. Also, I’m glad to have found a reviewer that doesn’t like infotainment screens and spends 5 mins going through it. I sold my 2018 Toyota Auris and bought and old Jeep because I love the older feel of cars and hated having a screen in there. Keep it up pal

You know what, thanks so much for this comment. There was so much of this video I nearly cut out, but eventually I decided to leave it all in, as an honest appraisal of the car. What car shall I do next? Cheers for the compliment!

Remove the spare wheel and seats and you get a 1000kg van that's even faster and more economical. If you also put some 2 centimeter spacers on the wheels, it will be really fun on the curves too ;)

@@GeoffBuysCars I have a Peugeot Partner Long Van 1.6 HDI 2010, I removed the wall behind the seats, the support and the spare wheel, the sound or thermal shield from the exhaust pipe and with me behind the wheel and half a tank is less than 1250 kilograms. I put 2-centimeter spacers and alloy wheels and now it's 5-6 centimeters wider. Now I'm in love with the way it runs and takes the curves. The entry-level Dacia is made for such modifications. I would even take down the bars on the roof. They also have 20 kilos :))

@@GeoffBuysCars I really really like it ! I’ve driven all kinds of cars over the years but the jogger for the price of £20000 all in I think takes some beating! It’s got everything I need…I’m old school motoring and just don’t like all the gadgets and beeping noises you get in modern vehicles! A lot of reviews I read were going on about all the plastic in the cabin but again I’m really not bothered as it’s less material to rip and it’s easy to clean…I’d definitely recommend the extreme se model…regards Ross

Good review, very fair. I believe the debate over the power in the engine comes down largely to what you’re used to driving and what you’re using the car for. If a person is used to high power cars like new or nearly new Mercedes, BMW etc or carrying heavy loads consistently then it’s definitely going to feel underpowered by comparison. For the money, it’s a brilliant car…lots of nice features in the jogger that you usually only find in more expensive cars.

Great video. Not a fan of new cars as a rule but this seems very likeable. I've always been dubious about small engines in large cars, but looks like this one works well. Maybe this is the closest thing to a modern Geoff car?

I must say, I think very highly of Dacia as a brand. I know some people that have had them for years and they've had no trouble at all with them. I do wonder about their longevity, though. When I was in Scotland in the summer I did see some rough-looking early Sanderos, you don't see similar aged Focus or Golf's in that bad of condition, although that being said the Sandero was a lot cheaper when new.
@trackingcalin1988
@trackingcalin1988 Жыл бұрын
I am convinced that the Sandero was not taken care of in the same way as a Golf is taken care of. My father's Dacia Logan from 2010, for example, was only kept in the garage and did 400,000 kilometers as a taxi. Not a bit of rust. But many Logans, especially those from before 2010, have rust because many do not wash them at all.

As it’s basically out of the Renault parts bin you can beat the keyless entry by putting the key next to your mobile phone and casually walking up to it, no need to be sneaky ! I have been caught out the opposite way where it doesn’t lock due to my phone and have left it unlocked in a car park all day.

5:53 the volume controls in a car (old, new, with or without a fancy touch screen) is on the right, except for the (very) small number of cars that have the steering wheel on the right. Sadly, the later you adopt the right side driving the more issues like that you will have - for instance the atrocious small glovebox in most of the cars sold in UK, Australia, etc.

My Ford C-Max had the volume control satellite on the left side, just like the steering wheel. Guess all Versions of the Focus had it that way.

Absolutely love this review. As a family man with three kids and my wife, we need a practical family car they will get it safely from a to B which can easily be converted into a van to all things around like bicycles, and they can accept our roof box as well Previously I had a Seat Alhambra, which was a lovely car. Don’t buy anything of a similar size. It’s just extortionate Lee expensive nowadays. We also just don’t use her car enough to justify having a huge expense. And a 7 seater to act as a second car.

I reckon if you're planning to keep the Jogger forever, then yes. I don't think it will be as robust as the Volvo, and there's questions about how long the engine will last, but if I was after a car... I'd buy a Jogger from @dacia for sure!

@@GeoffBuysCars I actually would get one with 5 seats as all our kids bar one have left home. I have considered a smaller car but it seems you could easily convert the jogger into a van. You just cannot find a car at the same price to match it , and my wife is always complaining about sitting too low in the Volvo , plus the boot suits her shopping habits and that is the first thing she looks at when buying a car.

Sadly the price of these has gone up to well over £20k for the top end models which is what I would expect to pay for sportier brands like Seat or Ford with pokier engines and market leading handling so when you consider the performance difference & lower build/engineering quality with buying a Dacia I start to wander if its still worth it in 2024? Think they need to knock a grand or two off their current pricing personally.

I assume there's also a key for when the remote battery gives up? My Berlingo never warns me when the battery will die and I've been caught out before as the bloody door locks don't work now. Have to have a spare remote with me. Looking for a new van or SUV to carry dogs but not sure this will be it, though I hate all the modern tech that comes with most, as well. I've had Citroen and several Peugeots - all had electronic issues when older so not sure I'd trust a car that's basically put together with Renault bits.
