HI Gillian, you are welcome. I do remember seeing people buttering bread before slicing it. The pullman tin worked very well. I am tempted to make a veal and ham pie, with egg in the middle in the tin. I think that a 13" one might be more than I could force down the throats of family though. Tomorrow I am going to make Christmas Pudding I think.

Yes, I feel as though I have been unnecessarily tardy. But the bullet will be bitten on the morrow. LOL

The pullman loaf, sometimes called the "sandwich loaf" or "pan bread", is a type of bread made with white flour and baked in a long, narrow, lidded pan. The French term for this style of loaf is pain de mie, or, less commonly, Pain Anglais. Pullman loaf, a type of long, square bread developed to be baked in the small kitchens of rail cars

Hi! I've had a 13" Pullman tin for a couple of weeks, but hadn't managed to find the right recipe. Thanks to you, today I produced one of the best loaves I've ever made. I know this video is from a while back but I wanted you to know how grateful I am. I have subscribed (I'm going to try the feta scones tomorrow!).

Indeed you are correct. The shape of the pans, and loaves, meant more could be stored in a small space on trains.

I just found your channel and I love it I live in Canada so what store did you find that loaf pan?
@geoffsbakingblog5 жыл бұрын
Hi Penny, I think I found it in Bed Bath and Beyond, but it isn't on their website now. However I did see it on the Walmart.ca site so maybe it is available in Walmart.

Hi Karen, thanks very much. I don't think I would do well at all on GBBO, I don't have the flair for the showstoppers.

Geoff Cooper I think time would be a big issue all that stress to get things done on time lol

Is that just one egg? As you know here in Canada we use cups and spoons when we measure
@geoffsbakingblog5 жыл бұрын
I used 76g of egg, which is about 1 1/4 large eggs in Canada sizes. You could just use one egg though if you wish and hope it works. The strange amount is because the loaf tin is larger than the usual 2 lb tin by about 1/4.

Hello Geoff, I have the smaller Pullman tin so, by how much would I reduce the ingredients please? Mo.
@geoffsbakingblog5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mo, How large is your tin? Mine was 13 inches long, so if your is 9 inches long, for instance you would adjust the ingredients by dividing by 13 and multiplying by 9.
@eurekalass5 жыл бұрын
@@geoffsbakingblog Thank you, Geoff :) Mine is 8, so multiply x 8. Easy peasy! This is as good as chatting on the phone isn't it ... I'm in Adelaide, South Australia, originally from Surrey. Mo.

Can you make a hot pot sometime
@geoffsbakingblog5 жыл бұрын
I will certainly think about a hot-pot though I am not sure it is really baking. But I do love a hot-pot, particularly Lancashire Hot-Pot.
