George's jab is soooo underrated. It wasn't just a jab: It was high-calibre weapon of destruction, the foundation of his entire boxing style. It had such power and snap to it, that it kept the most dangerous boxers in bay from Fraizer, to Norton, to Qawi. And of course it helped him set up the right hand against Moorer.

All knowledgeable boxing minds recognize Foreman's jab was a brutal weapon. It was harder than many HWs right hands.
@BaldianOfIbelin
@BaldianOfIbelin 3 ай бұрын
@@georgepierre3594Old school boxers used to throw the jab with just their arm not by moving their body. Larry Holmes explains it perfectly along the lines of "Nowadays they throw the jab like this (and he throws a normal jab) and that's fine, if you want power but it's a jab you don't need power, I and the guys from my time like Ali threw it like this (and it shows an even faster jab) that doesn't hurt right? Yes, but a jab does not need to hurt, better to throw many who constantly harass the opponent And well, Foreman's hands and arms were so heavy that he did not sacrifice power

You already made a video for Foreman “past his prime”, but I think it’d be cool to see another one dedicated to strictly the 2nd career he had, be it a video on his defense or knockouts or jab. I think a jab video for his 2nd career would be cool, because that’s when I felt Foreman’s jab REALLY shined! It didn’t have the same snap it did in his 1st career, but it had just as much power behind it, and actually may have had even more power! It was described as getting hit with a tree trunk! It doubled as a straight right, and he probably could’ve used the jab alone to win fights if he needed to!

Watching this... especially the fights vs Frazier and trying to envision Tyson doing his “Peek-A-Boo” bobbing and weaving against GF. There’s times I see Tyson taking damage. Cus D’Amato said himself that his style would be “suicide vs a guy like George”. There’s only one “guy like George” to ever exist in 🥊 and of course that’s George 🤷🏼‍♂️. Tyson and Foreman were close to an agreement in the early 90s. I wish it would’ve happened.

When he was young,there was someone who might have given George inspiration. Sonny Liston. Sonny Liston was a slugger,with the biggest hand size in the history of boxing to this date,and he could knock out opponents with jab. Not hook,not straight cross. But with a jab. George probably got inspired by it. Boxers getting inspiration from other star boxers of their childhood is common story. Ali's style became inspiration to Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns. Holyfield became inspiration to Anthony Joshua.

His defence was almost non existent. He learned a little from Archie Moore in his second reincarnation. I suspect he thought if he possessed such power, why bother with defence. He just not had strong punches and heavy hands. His arms was one of the strongest among the hw`s. Which gave him incredible stamina. Because he used arm strenght to punch. Not wasting energy but still powerfull punches. This made him oldest hw champ ever!

SHADOW The first how do you work that one out? Ali took to much punishment to be called a better boxer. He left the sport cabbaged. Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit but Ali just absorbed the punishment way to much. George Forman retired healthy and to this day he’s doing well and is a multi million dollar businessman. People overrate Ali because they rate him on what he done out the ring. He was a huge character in rough times and that stands out so much but when rating him solely on what he done in the ring then Ali wasn’t a complete boxer like Forman.

@kevdean9967
@kevdean9967 4 жыл бұрын
Love Ali but the best jab is definitely arguable. Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Liston and Lewis are all right there! For me it's Holme's jab that I rank at #1. Ali had a great jab that could slice you up but did have much power behind it. Liston and Foreman both could really hurt guy's with their jabs. They could bust you up. Lewis could totally control his opponent and keep him on the outside with the jab once he got it going. Holmes' jab was rapier like but also had weight to it and that's why I rate it at number 1.
