- Is it risky to kill three side characters in the beginning of your medieval story? - I don't know, that's why I killed the main character in the end of the same book

What’s great about George is that he is generous with his experience as a writer. Some writers don’t always come forward with how to get started in literature, but George is so positive about what you can do to get a start. That’s invaluable to any young author who may have talent, but has no idea where to start in the industry.

Show Casterly Rock, if done as described in the books, would absolutely need some sort of lever system. Some mechanism like the Wall to elevate people. 3X the height and only steps? yikes. I think if they'd made the castle in the show on a cliff even 400-500ft it would've done justice
@theophrastusbombastus13593 жыл бұрын
The castle isn't on the cliff top its at the base of the Rock. What passes for a castle is a curtain wall, brief courtyard and guard tower. The real fortification is the Rock itself. Even if the outer "castle" falls the fight for the internal tunnels would be Thermopylae to the power of a googol A very small number could hold back a very large number for a very long time. Thus, nobody has ever done so

I've never seen a show like game of thrones before so I thought ned stark was the main character and hero type character and inevitably expected to be king eventually. In my defence he was the face of the poster.

I was surprised he took the job where he was the most famous actor in the show. When he died I wasn’t surprised. Just like Lord of the Rings he likes the flawed characters that die.

When GoT first aired, spoilers were online that Ned Stark is killed in the books. But it was the first season so people were wondering if HBO was going to follow the books or do something different. With “True Blood” the Lafayette character dies early in the books but HBO changed it so that he lived throughout the tv series. GoT viewers were wondering if the same thing was going to happen with Sean Bean as Ned Stark. Once he was killed, viewers realized HBO was following the books with this series.

(let me 'like' your post, for not being VERY VERY rude in your disagreement, only "a bit rude" 👍) My opinion is that Mr Martin deserves to retire like any of us. That just because he bit off more than he could chew when he was 60 don't make him beholden to us to do anything ever again if he so chooses. And it's just US the fans who NEED and EXPECT and WAIT. If it happens, it happens. Me, i do not DESERVE another book nearly as much as Martin DESERVES to retire and chill.

@@varanasiwalks1451 a very different notion to how the initial post comes across. "I'm not watching any more videos, as the wait is killing me. He either needs to crack on with it and finish writing the damn book already or just come clean and save us all the anxiety of waiting" - is how your initial post reads ("crawling up our own asses" etc.) And to clarify: he does indeed write other stories, though I suspect you're only impatient for one Try out his Targaryen prequels to satiate your impatience maybe?

I’d disagree with George’s assessment of Edward II as he spent so much time focusing on his favorites that he alienated the other nobles and he ignored and mistreated his wife so much that he lost a key ally with France. Edward made a lot of selfish choices including going to war over personal slights like when the nobles forced his favorite into exile and he would continually reverse reforms if he didn’t get his way.
