Geri Halliwell-Horner (Ginger Spice herself!) discusses what drew her to the Spice Girls from the very beginning, her foray into literature and writing, and the life lessons she has learned from American culture. She shares her thoughts on what it has meant to be Ginger Spice, the connotations associated with being a redhead, and how her intuition guided her to stand up for Spice Girls’ biggest hit, “Wannabe.” Mayim serenades Geri with Yiddish songs and Geri explains how she incorporates songwriting into her books, why she resonates with Sylvester Stallone, how becoming a mom changed her persona and why self-worth can be our best defense.

@Mayim Bialek. This episode made me grateful that I visited Ellis Island and processed the history of immigrants and ALL of us. One of OUR ancestors took the brave journey of America. Until Geri mentioned how America is still inspirational. Bc right now we are so embarrassed of our country. This brought a rememberence of American pride. Which we ALL need. Thank you Geri and thank you Mayim.

I was working at the Four Seasons Hotel ,Toronto, during 2001, 2002 in Room Service midnight shift. Ms. Halliwell stayed with us when she was the MC for the famous Fashion Cares Foundation during that time. When she came back to the hotel around 2:00 am, I got an order of tea for her suite. I got there , her assistant opened the door and I went in. I could see from the corner of my eyes ms. Holliwell standing in the living room sorting out some clothes. After I set the tea on a desk, and I was leaving. She said "Sir". I turned towards her and said "yes ma'am". Then she asked me "Do you have a daughter?" I replied "yes ma'am, I do". Then holding a dress in her hands, she asked me" " Do you think your she like this?" I said: " I think she'll love it" And she gave me the dress. I always tell this story when I have the chance. Ms. Gerry Halliwell was so nice, gracious, humble and kind. I encountered many celebrities during my days working there, and I have to say she was the best.

"When you write a song, it's like the perfume version of a story". I love the way she expressed that. I can attest that writing a song and writing a novel is completely different. Both works wonders on some people yet creates a different world of imagination on someone's mind. I'm not a writer myself but I read a lot to the point where I forget some of my house chores and that flips my Mom's mood to 360°.

Geri is well-read, she was the main songwritter in the Spice Girls. She exudes Power as a whole. Such a smart and lovely woman. She remains my favourite Spice Girl. She even scored 4 No.1s of her own and has written many children books.

Geri is such a wonderful personality. She has such passion for her pursuits and for creativity in general. I also think that she has a beautiful speaking voice. To me Geri was the Spice Girls and brought that "girl power" concept to the band. Everyone now thinks that Victoria is the big name from the band because she married Beckham. But, I think it is and always was Geri who made the band. I'm going to buy her book. I feel inspired!

Victoria is the big name definitely only because of David Beckham. That's not to say that she didn't bring anything to the table but she's just not faded into the background like everyone else. It's refreshing to see them come back on podcasts and stuff. I think that Geri was the glue and had a lot of ideas they put to use.

Love Geri, but I feel like more recently, the podcast isn't as deep, or maybe it's just the people being interviewed? I miss learning about people's upbringing, deep, supressed topics, hence " breakdown". No offense at all, I love your show, but I feel like maybe some of the shows true meaning is missing, or it's essence is slightly missing? You usually always touch on everyone's childhood, family, where they're from, but I'm missing deeper context, connections that I feel like your podcast was heavy on even just a year ago . Just my take on recent episodes. ❤
