Hey Guys. Another great video. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. The Germans sure know how to make hiking a semi relaxing adventure. We are going to spend almost a week in munich this summer. I would love your take on the best way to see the city on bikes? Thanks again and that radler looked refreshing!

Thanks so much! I don't know if I would recommend biking around the Munich Altstadt, where all the famous sites are. Most of it is pedestrian only, and the bike lanes are a little inconsistent. I would recommend biking down the Isar. There are several beer gardens and places to get lunch. There are also some nice rides in the mountains outside of Munich. We loved renting e bikes in Garmisch-Partnekirchen, and biking through the valley to Lake Eibsee. We also enjoyed renting bikes in Mittenwald and biking to the Isar Ursprung. Both these towns are about an hour and a half train ride from Munich. Hope this helps!

@@NearFromHome Awesome. Thanks for the advice! We are also planning on staying in Garmisch for a week at the military resort there. I'm in the National Guard. Teacher full time. We definitely are planning on seeing Mittenwald again. Taking your recommendation on visiting the violin 🎻 museum. It was closed when we visited. I'm hoping my kids are willing to skip neuschwanstein lol. It's beautiful but one time is enough for me. We will be using your videos for sites to check out. Take care and stay safe

You can‘t really escape people in Germany, because it‘s half the size of Texas but has more than 2.5 times of the population. So if you walk straight in any direction for an hour, you will probably come close to a road, autobahn, village, town or city. 😉 So we‘re basically everywhere all over Germany, as you probably already found out. 😊

How did you pay for the bus? We live in Holzkirchen but have hardly travelled. Think we may do this, this week. Thanks for the inspiration!

Bus travel is included with the Bayern Ticket that we used to take the train. So if you pick that ticket up, I usually buy it in the app buy you can get it on the machines too, then you’ll be able to use it on the Sbahn, bus, and regional trains.

Do you find that places like the Panorama Restaurant at Wallberg have ATM (Cash Machines) when they are Cash Only?

Occasionally, but not really. I would always have cash. It‘s annoying, but so many places just don‘t accept card.

Hi..we r planning a trip to greece Munich n then Austria....from India...we plan a 2 night stay in garmisch once we land to Munich from Athens ...n then 3 nights in munich...i want to know is there a bus to Eibsee from garmisch ( where no hike is required) as going with kids ? We will be visiting konigsee too later from salzburg

Yes there is. There's a bus that goes every hour from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station to Eibsee. We actually made a video all about it. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it: I was up there 70 years ago and haven't since! But let's be a little honest: You eat Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarren - from Austria - in Germany and Käsespätzle - from Baden-Württemberg - in Bavaria! All this is not "typical"! There is a nice saying for this in Germany: "knapp daneben ist auch vorbei!": "just missing is also over!"

It’s really is beautiful. We were coming at this from a Alpine perspective. We’ve hiked all over the German, Austrian, and Italian Alps, and we’ve seen these food at most mountain huts 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s usually made with a lemon/lime soda, but it doesn’t taste very soda-y to me.

@@NearFromHome- I shave had a Radler in a can when living in Argentina, so I was a little confused by the “lemonade” comment. Upon seeing this response, I remembered that an English amiga of mine from the south (Portsmouth maybe?) used to say “Lemonade” for lemon-lime soda. Thanks for the reply.

Could it be considered Alpine? We intended this to be an Alpine food tour, but unfortunately an "Alpine Food Tour" title probably wouldn't have done well with the YT algorithm. Videos titled with "German", "Culture Shock", and "Food Tour" do well, while everything else tanks. It sucks to put two weeks of work into a video that nobody watches.

@@NearFromHome For sure it could be considered alpine. Traditionally you take Bergkäse and Emmentaler for it and these two cheese-sorts are definitely out of the alps. Also it´s not quite right to say that "Kässpätzle" is not bavarian. I live in the "Allgäu" in the bavarian side of it and "Kässpatzen" is our "national-dish" (almost every child can make them here :-)). It´s partly bavarian (Allgäu, Bayrisch-Schwaben), partly Baden-Württemberg (Baden, Oberschwaben) and it´s a very common dish in the alpine parts of Austria (Tirol, Vorarlberg) and Switzerland. So ok, maybe it´s false to call it bavarian, but it´s clearly alpine. Often times the origins of food is not quite clear, was the "Wiener-Schnitzel" invented in Vienna or is it maybe italian, we don´t know for sure. Doesn´t matter at all, Schnitzel, Kässpätzle and Kaiserschmarrn can be considered as traditonal alpine, no doubt about it..

@@danielbachhofer8690 about Wiener Schnitzel we absolutely can be sure that it’s Austrian, because the false story by a German (what else) is dated at 1849, but Wiener Schnitzel still mentioned in Austrian cook books centuries before!

@@danielbachhofer8690 No Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn (and Germknödel and Apfelstrudel) are Viennese Kitchen and Vienna is far from alpine!
