fun fact: looking out of my window I see the Hohenzollern Castle every day. Dependiing on the weather, it always has a different look and feel to it. Especially with clouds or during evening/night, when the castle is lit with lights (during Christmas it's actually beautifully red light) it's super impressive. Funny is also at full moon, it looks like the "Castlevania" video game castle from Dracula! ;-) Just love it!

Castles in Germany also had a military purpose. After all, there were no fences around the land at that time.

(e.g. Burg Eltz, Reichsburg Cochem, Schloss Meersburg and so on...). If you are ever going to visit those (and stay there over night), I advise to watch out for youth hostels in castles. There are plenty of them in the most prominent places of their cities.

Pictures and Videos are allowed. The rooms are very nice and old. But this castle is not very old. Maybe 200 years old.

The title of your video is somewhat wrongly chosen Most castles are much older Neuschwanstein is from the 19th century but has nothing to do with the old castles that is actually a fairly new building and as a residence for the Bavarian King Ludwig II who was a dreamer. Most castles go far back into the Middle Ages. We even have original preserved Roman buildings.
