Get Rid Of The Purple And Green Fringe In Lightroom

All lenses have some amount of chromatic aberration, that purple and green fringe at high contrast areas in a photo. The Lens Corrections panel in Lightroom has all the controls you need to fight the fringe and get rid of chromatic aberration. Most of the color fringing is removed with the Remove Chromatic Aberration checkbox in the Lens Corrections panel. If fringing is still present, go into the Manual controls to fine-tune it. This video will show you how.

Hi Scott, thank you for the informative Video. I wonder how ON1 Photo Raw would solve the problem with this photo. There are only two sliders, right?

Hi Thomas... yes, ON1 has just the two fringe sliders for additional control. If you needed extra work, perhaps Local Adjustments and some masking work to control the tint or brightness. Nontrivial work, but doable.

Hi Scott I used to have that 11-16mm Tokina lens on my Nikon D7100 & your right, the fringing was horrendous. I bought the lens used & after about 9 months it stopped auto focusing. I sent it back to the camera store & they sent it back to Tokina in Ireland. Turns out someone had taken the lens apart to repair that fault in the past. That lens got written off & I got a full refund.

Glad that was a happy outcome! I loved the field of view on that lens. Didn’t like the extra attention each photo needed :)
