The UAB Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery is dedicated to excellent patient care, advancing surgical knowledge through innovative research and training future surgeons in a diverse, inclusive environment.
Our faculty are nationally-recognized experts in the field of gastrointestinal surgery. We are home to one of the highest-volume academic robotics programs in the country and our bariatric surgery program is one of only 10 programs in Alabama accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®️), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
