A good racer understand the "Art of Cruise" is what I was trained under. Understanding pace, posture, and situational awareness. Once you get past where to keep your eyes aimed (harder than it sounds for most) and you have some acquiantance with the layout/track it makes it much easier to move thru traffic and find lines. Keep at it Larry, Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast.

I started NASA HPDE when I turned 18. Eventually moved to TT, and now W2W. The most important thing is finding comfortability and having fun. Take it easy Larry it's all good. Stay in the moment and focus on performance not the result. Helps the nerves.

Wow, what a journey and experience. Hats off to the instructors for paying it forward and their attention to detail. It's great to know they are highly focused on safety. I'll never forget my drill sergeant back in the day telling me attention to detail may save your life one day.

Hey Larry, I thoroughly enjoyed your video, the real start of your racing life. It brought back alot of memories. I have loved cars since i was 3 yo. But, I was a late starter getting my comp licence at 42 years old. I circuit raced sports cars, open wheelers and tarmac rallied all over Australia, solidly for 20 years. Without blowing my horn, I had alot of wins and places over the years. I'm sure with your level of passion and seriousness, that yiu too will have many successes. Enjoy the journey, as I know you will 😍😍

Rob Dahm posted a video a few days ago about him doing racing school with Radical SR8. It's one thing thinking you're drving fast - it's another actually understanding your car and what the race line REALLY is on the given track. Loading/unloading suspension, understanding tire grip, understand where you have to look and what weight transfer does to your car. That is a steep learning curve. Well, Rob wants to race his 3-rotor up Pikes Peak Hill Climb - any mistake there has high stakes consequences. ✌️

I absolutely love to see this! I'm here for the journey and am actually starting off on it myself. I did my first autocross a few weeks ago and have probably done four events since! I am doing my first HPDE day soon. I started as an automotive photographer traveling, so you're genuinely inspiring me, and I dream of capturing you racing one day or racing alongside you! Thanks again for another fantastic video!

This against your usual content, I bet this doesn't rack up a bunch of views and comments, but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I've done a bunch of HPDE and time trial track days, but haven't taken that next step to get licensed. This was a great peek into what it's like and a little about what could be expected and learned. Thanks and cheers!

Honestly doing sim racing can really help. What you're talking about here is the same etiquette in sim racing. If you're not at least up to their door, then you back off and wait until you have a good run. You don't dive bomb, you don't edge them out with your front bumper to their rear bumper. If someone is faster than you just let them by, it's not doing any good trying to block them. All of that stuff, you get used to having patience and passing only when you have a clear opening. Obviously on sim racing you can't point each other through or anything like that of course.

Safety. If you, or they need to extricate yourself quickly/safely from a vehicle. This rule has been written in blood. This video is a perfect case why these rules exist. Life is more imperative than a little aero.
