I'm gay and was raised hard-core mormon. Like hard-core. So I related to so much of what you're talking about on these podcasts. I was even put through one of those so-called 'reparative therapy' programs the church ran that seriously messed me up. It's taken a long time to get over that.

I was brought up strict Christian Reformed.. When I came out my brother told me I ruined his view of me and how hard that was for him.. My dad said you know your going to hell.. That was over 20 years ago.. my brother and I can get along but not close.. my dad now understands and my relationship with my father is wonderful ❤ I have just continued to be my self and show them the love Jesus has for us all ..

16:09 love the throw back 😂 although I will say it’s a very “straight ally” perspective to not realize how rampant homophobia is… those of us in the queer community are all too aware of the ever-present oppressive sentiment that continues. I get what she’s saying “what the big deal?” And at the same time, it is a big deal BECAUSE of the world we live in and the push back that continues

Same with Beckett Cook--who wrote the book, "A Change of Affection." He also admitted to still being attracted to men and having no feelings towards women. So many Christians misinterpret his and JHP's messages that they're now "straight". They have never admitted to being straight. JHP is in a mixed orientation marriage and she needs to be more transparent about it. Actually, it would be a better platform to teach and preach about being in a mixed orientation marriage as more and more people find themselves in the same predicament. And despite JHP being married to a man and bearing 4 kids, I still see Christians criticize her because she "needs to be delivered" from the spirit of homosexuality. 🙄You can't win with these folks.

Aww I’m all caught up on the episodes. Looking forward to more content. Love your videos. Your are doing great work for the community and making a difference! I’m a bi, semi-closeted Christian. Known since I was in 5th grade, but looking back the signs were always there.

Y'know I am very much not christian. I'd consider myself more agnostic if anything, but it's always really interesting just here other people's stories and viewpoints.
