In this video, I give my opinion on how to get started in airbrushing. Hopefully it has some useful information in it that may help some beginner modellers or modellers that are having problems with getting a finish they like on their slot cars. You are right about the stinky paints they do a great job. I use Createx paints that are water based which are excellent non stinky paint that works well. The Mr Color and Tamiya are excellent paints for sure.

Really good video, I went from a £20 airbrush to a Iwata Neo and the £20 airbrush is used for priming only now. I swear by Tamiya masking tape and I also use Jadlam, I use Hiroboy too for certain model kits and colour matched paint.

Hi Rob, some more great advice! I also swear by Tamiya tape and Iwata, did you try the new Tamiya lacquer paints (LP range) yet? They are superb paints, I’m using them alongside the Tamiya X/X-F range, along with Mr Color, all thinned with MLT, which I prefer over the new Tamiya lacquer thinner with retarder, which can all be inter-mixed together .. the new Tamiya LP metallics are on a par with the Mr Color super metallic range which have very fine pigments and include some superb pearlescent colours. Keep up the great content 👍🏼 The 9 p’s I swear by - Pre Paint Prep Prevents Pxx Poor Post Paint Problems! 😂

I've not got around to trying those LP paints yet, I have been eyeing up the Mr Color super metallics though as I have job coming up that wants to be metallic 😜 Thanks.

You’ll like the Super Metallics, the pigments are very fine and the beauty of these lacquer based metals is they are super durable and do not need a clear to seal them in, both the Tamiya LP and Super metallic ranges.
