Hi Angela....just today found your audio related tutorials. Professional photography is what occupies my time now but I'm a former radio guy who's missing his days behind the microphone. Wanting to do audio again has brought me into a very different world. Radio days were in the analog age. I was pretty fantastic with a razor blade and grease pencil! Now I'm learning from scratch. Don't yet know what I want to do. I'm equipped with a modest home studio and portable recorder. Recording audio books is something which never entered my mind. I'll explore it. I'm subscribed to your channel and will see you again. Thanks for the fresh approach!

I started as an illegal radio station at the age of fourteen in 1986. and I made all my radio jingles myself with a mixer the Monarch MMX-88 and a studio tape recorder. I quit after fifteen years of illegal radio station. and then I started making jingles for various radio stations and later commercials were added. now i am almost fifty years old, and i still do my audio productions as producer / voice actor. I enjoy working in my home studio. and I still learn new things in audio technology every day

You are not only unaware as to how great a narrator you are, but you are humble by nature, caring and compassionate. You are a very special young woman. I am going to learn everything I can from your videos then "go for it!" A few years ago I was told several times a week by callers when I did receptionist work that I had a "vanilla voice" and would be well suited for "radio". Thank You Again Angela! I am soaking up all your info like a sponge. Being extremely new to this I will have to rely on public domain works not personal previous work to get started, like many people I am sure. I have gone to Project Gutenberg for pieces to practice with and have a a couple I'd like to use as samples soon (must keep practicing for a bit and waiting on some new equipment to set up properly). My question is this, is there anywhere to find more current work to use for samples? I would like to do self help style books and children's books, or instructional books for work but Project Gutenberg does not have much in that type of work to use. LOVE the selection for reading and practicing, just not sure what I can use from there to help get me work in my preferred area. I can not seem to find where in google books to find public domain work, and afraid that it would be similar to Project Gutenberg. Any suggestions on more current public domain work to use?

I have been doing LibriVox as per your recommendation and really enjoying it. My first short story, "A Dangerous Scarecrow," was posted on LibriVox. I could have done it better as far as characterization of voices. So I am sticking to short stories with one narrator or a few characters. I did a Modest Proposal recently which was one narrator. Think it came out fine. I may use as a sample for ACX when I get to that part. Would it be best to create an ACX profile once I have more experience or can I start uploading samples as I complete them? I have one for now. I am assuming it takes time to be noticed to do a work for someone.

So, if I want to narrate books I am not a narrator but a publisher?
@VoiceOverAngela
@VoiceOverAngela 8 ай бұрын
Acx uses narrator and producer almost interchangeably. Some narrators will outsource the editing and formatting to a producer, but most will be both the narrator and handle the production end as well. So, if you want to narrate audiobooks, you will be a narrator/ producer.

@@VoiceOverAngela Thanks for the response. I chose Producer when setting up my account but now it looks like I will have to setup another account to be able to audition for work, unless I am missing something.

Really enjoying your videos. Would you be able to start linking your references and anything you mention in the text below your video. It would really help.

Why are you using a Producer account as an example, instead of Narrator/Actor?
@VoiceOverAngela
@VoiceOverAngela 2 жыл бұрын
on ACX a Producer is a Narrator/Producer. I do both, I narrate and I produce the audio. There are only two categories, Producer/Narrator and Rights Holder/ Author.
