Getting familiar with the guts of my used CAT 299D; there's a lot of maintenance and repairs that are needed to get it working well again. This is the first time I've lifted the cab to get a closer look at the hydraulics, the wiring harnesses and the belly of the beast! There's certainly a lot to get acquainted with inside Caterpillar skid steers / compact track loaders.

⭐ PRODUCT LINKS ⭐
We used a variety of products to clean and degrease the undercarriage.
These are Amazon associate links (In theory I get a few pennies if you buy something, but it does not cost you more. This helps the channel, so I appreciate it if you use them!)

After you get the nut off the cab bolts put a slim rare earth magnet on the head to hold the bolt up against the cab.

I have watch most of your KZfaq videos, they are all great and deep details. I know you have a CAT Skid Steer, but hopefully you can be able to have your hand on a bobcat and make same videos. Again thank you for your videos.

Thank you! I am glad you enjoy them! My new landlord has a Bobcat A300 and I just bought a Bobcat 442 to restore! I have not started on the Bobcat yet, because I am working on the Genie 5519, but hopefully in the next few months you will see an appearance on this channel.

Nicely done sir. I recently inherited a 2005 (I think) Cat 287C. I’m going through it and catching up on about 15 years of never being cleaned and barely maintained. I need to flip the cab next and check out Pandora’s box!!

Oh that's awesome! Hopefully you don't find to many animal nests under the Cab! I hope you can find some useful information in these videos as I am posting them for people like yourself. This was my first CAT, and I am extremely impressed with how they are built!

@@MakersAcres same here, my first Cat as well. I need to find an owners manual for the beast. Lots of switches and I only know what half of them do! I’ll have to post a video of what I find under their. I’m new to this equipment and will be putting it to use soon for profit. Some days I spend over 10 hours in the machine working on our property so I’m getting proficient in its operations and capabilities. They are rugged machines and you get what you pay for. Nothing cheap with repairs either! I look forward to watching more of your vids. See you soon and please be safe!

@@237130 So I suggest if you have not already, joining the heavy equipment forums. If you post looking for the manual in the right category, someone will probably share it. I am glad you are getting familar with the machine and you are going to be able to put it to some good use. I almost got a 287C as well before I found this one. You are right, the repairs are not cheap, that's why I am trying to do most of mine myself and share the process to help others save money and learn about their machines.

Why didn’t you just take the bottom Panels off and pressure wash it with hot water

There is only one small panel in the center that comes off. Unfortunately, the bolt heads have been ground down and are rusted in place. I can't get under the machine enough to work on this. It is on my to-do list to replace this panel and bolts when I find a way to work under this safely.
